The business became successful and continued to operate until 1902. In 1906, Nathan Bedford Forrest founded the Mountain Meadows Massacre coffee house in Rock Springs. The coffee house was used as a hideout for Forrest's men during the massacre of innocent civilians at Mountain Meadows ranch near Rock Springs. After the massacre, Forrest closed the coffeehouse and relocated its operations to Dodge City, Kansas. Rock Springs' second coffeehouse establishment was established in 1922 by J S Hutton and T C Bean. It operated until 1931. In 1938, William Stout opened the Stout Cafe on Main Street in Rock Spring with a goal of providing quality customer service while promoting local agriculture products from his farmstead kitchen gardens. Stout later sold his cafe to Lillie Mae Smith in 1945 who operated it until her death in 1978. Rock Springs' third coffeehouse establishment was established by Harry Weinberger and Dolphus Anderson in 1950 on Main Street adjacent to Atkinson's Furniture Store which had been operating as an independent store since 1907 when Samuel Atkinson opened it with two partnersinitially). Weinberger & Anderson ran their own espresso bar from their premises before selling it to Harry Naylor who operated it until 1982 when he sold it to Donny Kendricks who currently operates it under the name of Donny's Place
Rock Springs is a small town in Larimer County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Junction–Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rock Springs was founded in 1877 by Cowboys Joe and Jimmie Smith as a small farming community on the edge of the Rocky Mountains. The growth of Rock Springs was due to its location: close to water supplies and railways, as well as grazing land for cattle and sheep. In 1907, Rock Springs were named for General George Armstrong Custer after he died during an American Indian battle near the town. In 1912, Rock Springs became a station on the Great Northern Railway (GNR). The GNR served as a transportation hub between Denver and Fort Collins until it merged with Interstate 25 in 1965. The GNR has been replaced by Amtrak service to Grand Junction since 2012. Today, Rock Springs remains an agricultural community with many businesses catering to local farmers and ranchers who raise livestock and sell products such as hay, cattle feed, cheese, eggs, flour and other items online or in brick-and-mortar stores. A variety of art galleries dot the townscape; some focus on traditional Western painting while others specialize in contemporary art styles that reflect modern life in Colorado/Wyoming.

As a result of global industry competition and changes in consumption patterns over time, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain traditional plantation-based production systems while meeting rising demand from developing countries that have large populations but limited resources (e.g., China). One solution has been to establish smallholder farmers' cooperatives as an alternative to larger commercial enterprises which can provide better jobs security and access to essential inputs (such as land) necessary for sustainable growth; however these cooperatives often lack the technical expertise or marketing capabilities needed to sustain long-term success under market pressure
