In 1897-1898 an expedition was organized under Lieutenant Colonel James Wickersham to take possession of Chitina Island off Kodiak Island after its discovery by Captain Ross during his sealing expedition against Russia. The gift history at Fort Richardson includes several cannonballs inscribed with the words "Chitina 1898" which is now on display at the Alaska National Museum outside Anchorage. 1st Battalion 9th Cavalry Regiment donated four horses to be taken care of by members of Company H stationed at Weiser Barracks near Cheyenne Junction until 1902 when they were transferred to Camp Hitchcock located adjacent to current US Postal Service facilities just east of I-80 exit 189A southbound lanes only open daybreak thru 10pm

Green River is a small town in Sheridan County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 1,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Great Lakes Region. The community was founded in 1879 by Nicholas Dutton and his family after they discovered a coal mine in what is now Green River. The town was named for Green River, Colorado, where the Dutton family had been living when they found their mine. The first post office was established in 1881, and the first store opened in 1884. By 1886, there were six businesses in Green River: a mercantile business, an agricultural store, a wagon shop, a restaurant/livery stable and a hardware store. The school district formed on July 1, 1895 served grades K-12; however the first building (an academy) wasn't completed until 1902. In 1909–10 when Sheridan changed its name to Logan County due to land sales within that county including Green River Township (renamed Sheridan County later), the new county clerk decided to change all of its townships into counties but not Green River Township which continued to be one of Logan County's five townships subject only to sheriff jurisdiction (the other four being Larimer County proper and Carbon County). This decision caused much resentment by many residents who felt that their township should have been included as part of Logan County while others believed it would have increased its economic stability since it would have been part of any future consolidation efforts within Logan County because all other communities within Sheridan County were also municipalized at this time. In 1912 when LoganCounty merged with ArapahoCounty to form LarimerCo.,GreenRiver became one of its founding municipalities although it did not join until 1916 when ArapahoCounty dissolved itself again due to lack of growth). GreenRiver has seen significant growth over the years with current estimates placing its population at over 2 thousand residents – making it one of Wyoming's most populous towns even though services are limited to just two stores and one restaurant/livery stable located on Main Street which has operated continuously since 1906 despite larger competition from more recent establishments such as Walmart and Costco which both opened up shop around that time as well as numerous development projects across town including an amphitheater built specifically for events like rock concerts etc which helped boost tourism throughout region

In 1777, they participated in the Battle of Saratoga and were then transferred to Virginia where they fought against Cornwallis. The regiment finally disbanded on February 14th, 1815.

In 1864, Yellowstone National Park was created, and soon after residents of Green River began to flee westward for safety. By 1870, most of what is now Wyoming had been annexed by Idaho.
