From 1916-1968,Cheyenne had its own weekly newspaper which is still published today under the name "The Daily Review". In 1957-1959,the city hall underwent a renovation project which included adding an auditorium and new streetlights. During this time period, numerous civic organizations were established in support of downtown businesses including: Chamber of Commerce (1914-1964), Police Department (1916-1968), Fire Department (1922-1945)and Business Men's Club (1920s). This type of activity helped to create a sense of community within Cheyenne while providing social opportunities for citizens

Grant's Union army crossed the Platte River here and battle ensued near what is now Lincoln Park before finally withdrawing across from this side of the river to Fort Laramie farther downriver. The town was founded on May 12th, 1865 by Wm Hennepin with 1,500 citizens from Aberdeen (now Laramie) who had started traveling overland to arrive there two days earlier as part of a wagon train headed for Oregon Territory under gold prospectors Dodge AND McDonald

Cheyenne is a city in Sheridan County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 9,853 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Sheridan County. The Potosi Mountains are to the east and the Wind River Range to the west. The first European settler in what is now Cheyenne was C Nicholas Venable in 1868. A post office called Venable was established in 1865, and remained in operation until 1902. The town had been founded by mistake as a result of an error made when a group of settlers traveled from Fort Laramie to Sheridan County on July 10th, 1860 without stopping at Cheyenne for breakfast. They were directed to proceed direct to Beechcroft instead of following the more westerly fork of the Powder River which led them into Sheridan County. Cheyenne was incorporated as a city on January 15, 1912. In 1916, it became one of several counties within Wyoming that seceded from Colorado under pressure from President Wilson's Administration over issues with statehood and voting rights for Native Americans. The remaining residents voted 3-1 against secession and remain part of Colorado today despite having residency rights within Wyoming since 1903
