Airforce gift history in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin began with the installation of a United States Air Force radar station in 1945. The present-day facility is located on County Road WIS 5, just east of the city center and across from the community’s high school. The United States Air Force station was originally called Kirtland AFB and it operated from 1945 to 1951. It was then moved to its current location, adjacent to County Road WIS 5 in 1955. The airfield served as an important part of the military’s air defense system during World War II and the Cold War. In addition to providing warning for residents living within sight of the radar facilities, Kirtland AFB also hosted training missions for American fighter pilots and bombers during those years. In 1971, Kirtland AFB transitioned from being an USAF station to become a local government agency under control of the City of Wisconsin Rapids. The following year, it became home to Wright-Patterson AFB’s 3rd Bomb Wing which used it for training flights and operations until its closure in 1993. At that point, Kirtland AFB reverted back to its former status as an USAF station which continues today as part of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER). Since JBER opened in 1992, there have been more than 400 aircraft parked on or near the property including UH-1Y Hueys, E-3C Eagle Talons, A-10 Thunderbolt IIs and F/A 18 Hornets. As one result of its role at JBER, Kirtland AFB has been host to numerous international events such as NATO Day ceremonies and world championship wrestling matches among others.

Wisconsin Rapids is a small town in the eastern corner of Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Stout, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wisconsin Rapids was founded in 1854 by Lemuel Durant and his wife Esther Maynard. It became an incorporated town in 1917. In 1924, it merged with neighboring Luxemburg to form the present-day Wisconsin Rapids Township. The community has been home to many businesses and families since its founding, including several breweries and wineries. Wisconsin Rapids is located on the Stouts River, which forms its border with Minnesota to the north and east; it borders Rock County to the south and west. The river's meandering course makes for a scenic backdrop as well as a place where boat traffic often meets vessels coming from Superior or Menomonee Falls across the riverbed. Many of Wisconsin Rapids' residents are descendants of early European settlers who came here during this time period: there are more than 100 Dutch immigrants living in the community today. The first settlers in what would become Wisconsin Rapids were farmers who arrived during what is now known as "the Great Lakes Migration." They began arriving in waves between 1818 and 1830, when prospectors discovered rich deposits of coal and other minerals along Lake Michigan's shoreline. By 1840, about 60% of all Iowa Territory's population had settled within three miles (5 km) of Milwaukee due to land purchases or treaties made with Native American leaders following US conquest of Canada during that era. Illinoisans also migrated into area after swelling numbers found new tracts of land along both Lakes while looking for new opportunities following their state's admission into the Union on March 4th, 1846 (see History Of Indiana). Wealthy men among these newcomers sponsored others to come live among them – typically younger men – making up what would eventually be called "The New England Settlers." This group included some high-ranking citizens from Rhode Island (then still part of Massachusetts), Connecticut (now Long Island), New York City (now Lower Manhattan), Pennsylvania (then Bucks County), Massachusettsbay Colony [present day Albany], Maryland ([now] Annapolis]), Quebec ([then] Montreal], Upper Canada [present day Ontario]), New Hampshire ([then] Manchester]) and Vermont (!). Assembling here didn't happen overnight: some 500 people had already relocated by mid-1847 when Congress passed legislation authorizing western lands sales under President James Kenedy’s Proclamation On July 12th that year2—a proclamation designed not just to open America’s West but also create incentives for settlement throughout much of Northwestern India by Europeans newly arrived there after British defeat at Waterloo two years earlier3—thus boosting Georgetown [later Madison]’s hopes for becoming “America’s First City Upon The Mississippi River4—but nothing ever happened until late summer/early fall 1848 when members meeting at Easton Forge decided that if they couldn’t get grants from Washington then they might as well go ahead with plans to build a city because lots were starting becoming available… 5 so we started building right away!6
The United States Air Force is one of the most powerful air forces in the world. It has a rich history that goes back to World War I. The first airplanes were designed by American engineers and built by American companies. In 1917, America became a belligerent in World War I, and the air force was created as part of the war effort. The first planes were designed with an intention to fulfill three main goals: interception of enemy bombers, reconnaissance, and bombing raids on military targets. During World War II, America's planes flew over sixty-one million miles and dropped more than fifty thousand bombs on enemy combatants. The jet age began with the development of jets in the early 1960s and continued through to today. Today, there are over 100 different types of jets that are used by the US Air Force for their missions around the world.
The air force gift history begins in 1949 when the USAF began giving out toy planes as gifts. The first plane was a T-6 Texan trainer. It was given to the air force's 1st Bombardment Wing at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. From then on, the USAF gave out a variety of planes and helicopters. In 1957, they started giving out jets as gifts and in 1969, they started giving out submarines as gifts.
Wisconsin Rapids is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Fox River. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census, down from 6,028 at the 2000 census. The village of Wisconsin Rapids was incorporated in 1855 and again in 1870. The first permanent settler in what is now Wisconsin Rapids was John Lapham, who arrived during the Rogue River fur-trading era and named his new town after himself. It seems that Lapham's Creek ran through what is now town and he built a trading post there to collect trade goods coming up the river. He also founded a Methodist church there in 1854. In 1855, Ralph Waldo Emerson came overland from Illinois to survey and purchase land for a community called "Walden" on the banks of the Fox River opposite present-day Wisconsin Rapids. Walden would eventually become one of America's most famous cities – with its tree-lined streets and rich history – but it didn't start off that way! Lapham's creek continued to be an important transportation artery for early settlers as they traveled westward into this newly discovered region! It wasn't until 1872 when another group of pioneers finally settled in what is nowWisconsin Rapids after traveling through Iowa on their way to Buffalo (New York). They were led by Captain George Stephenson and his son Sir John Stephenson (the builder of Liverpool’s first steamboat) who had heard about reports of fabulous wealth buried under sandstone cliffs nearBuffalo Niagara Falls; they decided to check it out! After some hilly terrain they reached an overlook which suggested gold might be hidden below! They returned journey home with several sacksful of gold nuggets that still remain today as part of their legacy! 1st Congregational United Church building: This brick structure served as both a church and school from 1850 until 1888 before being replaced by a newer frame building which can still be seen today across the street from Stonewall Inn #2 restaurant on Third Street NW
Wisconsin Rapids was founded by the Potawatomi Indians in 1836. The city was first named after General James K. Polk, the 35th president of the United States. In 1851, the city was renamed to Wisconsin Rapids because it lay at the mouth of the rapids that formed near that name. The first post office in Wisconsin Rapids opened in 1853. It remained an small town until it became a city in 1907. During World War I, Wisconsin Rapids served as a refueling station for American forces fighting on the Western Front. From 1919-1922, Wisconsin Rapids was home to a United States Marine Corps Base known as Camp Lejeune which housed enlisted Marines from all over America and Europe.
