Weston is a town in Green County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The first settler in Weston was James Sutherfield, who arrived in 1836. In 1839, Alexander Armstrong settled on a farm three miles west of Weston and named it Armstrong's Prairie. At the time, it was located in what is now Green County and became part of Racine County when Racine was formed from Westonye Township on November 3, 1847. In 1870, John Haines bought the Armstrong farm and added to it two more acres east of present-day Weston. He named his new land Wiscasset Prairie after his home state of Rhode Island where he had been born and raised. Wiscasset Prairie extended from present-day Weston to Hartland and included all or parts of nine towns: Appleton (now Beloit), Brookfield (now Sheboygan), Burlington (now West Allis), Calumet (now Crawfordville), Dodge City (now Davidson Grove), Gresham (now Escanaba Heights), Hammondsport (now Janesville) and Rolling Meadows (now White Lake). By 1900, there were 569 people living in Weston; 246 were farmers with an average acreage size of ; 128 were manufacturing workers with an average crop size of . Manufacturing employment increased rapidly during World War I; by 1919 it accounted for 36% of total employment in the town; but within five years that percentage had shrunk to 10%. This change can be partially attributed to military production needs which resulted in decreases both in acreage planted and output per worker due to substitutes such as machine shops and other plants outside the war zone1 During this time period also important changes took place within Weston’s political landscape as well as its social fabric which can be seen through events like prohibition party meetings organized by local businesswomen2 These women played an influential role during prohibition because they could not simply sell liquor like their female counterparts back home so they needed a way to distribute their product while avoiding law enforcement action3

Weston is a town in the counties of Milwaukee and Racine, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 10,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Bremen Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community started as a small farmstead on what is now Weston Avenue in 1857. The first post office was established in that year. In 1879, the village of Weston was organized and incorporated as a town; it received its name from Weston Avenue. In 1907, the village became an unincorporated community again while the town continued to be governed by a board of supervisors until 1959. In 1960, when Racine County merged with Milwaukee County, Weston became one of its five towns (along with Waukesha, Oshkosh, West Allis and North Glens Falls) within that newly formed county. The last township meeting took place on December 14, 1959; all but two of its residents had moved away by then. In 2000-2001, however, when RacineCounty dissolved and all but three outlying communities were absorbed into Milwaukee County proper (the remaining two being Weston and Waukesha), Weston remained an unincorporated community under city jurisdiction pending annexation by Milwaukee if necessary pursuant to state law which allows for such annexation absent special request from the municipality's governing body. The ordinance creating this cityhood provision did not pass because no petitions for annexation were filed during those five years despite high demand from residents seeking to remain part of their larger neighboringshell/council area On January 1st 2018 Mayor Tom Barrett announced plans to annex Weston intoMilwaukee following a hearing held on October 12th 2017 which determined there would be no negative impact to either party due to inconsistencies between annexation ordinances currently in place for both municipalities
Weston was founded in 1836 by John Weston and his wife Nancy. The town was named after Captain John Weston, who had led a group of settlers from Northern Wisconsin to the area that would become Weston. The first store in the town was built on Michigan Avenue. In 1847, the city of Milwaukee was founded near Weston, and business began to grow around the townsite. In 1865, the first railway reached Weston and cargo trains began arriving for local farmers and merchants. By 1870, businesses in downtown Weston had grown large enough to support a library, post office, physician's office, justice of peace detachment, schoolhouse and other public buildings. Businesses continued to grow until World War II when most of the growth stopped due to shutdowns caused by war-related expenses. Today, many restaurants and stores line Michigan Avenue in downtown Weston while small businesses remain scattered throughout the community.
