It was run by George Washington Carver and his brother Thomas. In 1916, the first large-scale production of coffee beans took place at a farm just outside of Weston. This set off a period of growth for the town that continues to this day. Weston is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 5,852 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Fox River in Dane County and is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The first settler in Weston was Jonas Sadowa, who arrived in 1779. In 1818, John Fenton bought land from Sadowa and built a cabin on a bluff overlooking the Fox River. In 1834, he donated land to the town for a school district and also built a gristmill and lumberyard there. The first store was built in 1835 by George Hennepin, one of Weston's early settlers. In 1850, three brothers started brewing beer in what became known as "the brewery village". They named their business "Brewster's Brewery" after David Brewster, one of their owners. The brothers continued brewing beer until they sold it to John Darnall in 1865 for $1 million dollars ($). Darnall then turned it into a grocery store and restaurant called "The Weston Hotel", which still stands today (2002). In 1916, when Prohibition made alcoholic beverages illegal in America, Weston became home to America's first wine tasting center where people could purchase wine without knowing its liquor code
