The Coast Guard has been in operation in the town of West Bend, Wisconsin since 1899. The first coast guard station was built in West Bend by the United States Coast Guard. In 1923, the Coast Guard Station at Badger Lake was moved to West Bend and renamed Station Cottage. In 1927, a new station was built at Little Calumet in order to replace theStation Cottage which had been destroyed by a fire. In 1943, a new station was built at Sturgeon Bay and named Station Kellett after Captain James Kellett who served as Commandant of the Sector from 1942-1945. From 1949-1951, a detachment of cadets from UW-Milwaukee were assigned to serve as officers on duty with the Coast Guardstation in West Bend. A detachment of cadets from UW-Milwaukee continued to serve until 1962 when all coast guard stations were closed due to budget cuts.
West Bend is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the northern edge of the mesa country near Green Bay. The population was 11,521 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit what is now West Bend were French traders and explorers in 1672 who named it "Bend". Jesuit missionaries from France arrived in 1763 and renamed it "West Bend" because they wanted to avoid confusion with nearby Fort Wayne, Indiana. A post office was established at West Bend in 1837, and remained in operation until 1906. As a result of its location on the Great Lakes region, West Bend has been an agricultural center for many years. The town's industries have included cattle ranching, manufacturing (particularly textiles), woodworking, brewing and cheese production. The area around West bend also hosted important military installations during World War II: Western Electric's Crosstown Laboratories here were among those that manufactured radios, vehicles and other equipment for the war effort; while United States Army Ammunition Plant No. 3 later became home to Redstone Arsenal National Laboratory which developed nuclear weapons

West Bend is a town in the Milwaukee Metropolitan Area, United States. The population was 27,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Uwabonna metropolitan area. West Bend is named after Anthony Wayne West (1793-1868), a settler and county judge who helped organize the town in 1854. The first inhabitants of what is now West Bend were Native Americans, and some early settlers were French Canadians. The first white person to live in what is now West Bend was Anthony Wayne West, who arrived in 1854 with his family from Ohio. He helped organized the town and served as its county judge until his death in 1968. In 1870, John Gosset built a gristmill on the east side of Wabash River. In 1902, he donated $10,000 to build a Methodist church which still stands today on Fruitland Avenue in downtownWest Bend. In 1916, J.[ohn] F.] Hennepin donated land for use as an airport and future industrial park east of downtownWest Bend during World War I when he became president of General Motors Corporation. The airport was designated as Hennepin Airport by local officials in 1958 and has since grown into one of Wisconsin's most important aviation complexes with over 100 acres (40 hectares) dedicated to it! Today it serves as home to both local airlines and international carriers including American Airlines and Delta Air Lines! In 1955, W[isconsin] Senator Joseph McCarthy visitedWest bend during his campaign for Congress representing Wisconsin’s 3rd District – he was then running against incumbent Hubert Humphrey –and met with residents there about McCarthy’s plans for rural America At that time many people believed that McCarthyism had originated within government circles rather than coming from outside sources like Communists! later that year McCarthy announced that he would not run for reelection due to health concerns but would instead focus on governing Wisconsin properly instead During World War II many people worked at Boeing located right next door to where present day State Street meets Wabash River - this plant produced military aircraft such as bombers used by our Allies during WWII
The town of West Bend was founded in 1837 by John and Polly Warrington. It became a village in 1846, and then a town in 1865. The population grew to over 1,000 people by the turn of the century, thanks to heavy industry and agricultural production. However, the Depression hit West Bend hard and the population began to decline in the 1930s. By World War II, only about 100 people were left living in West Bend. However, after the war, growth resumed as businesses reopened and jobs were created. The town reached its peak during the 1960s when it had around 2,500 residents. However, rapid development has led to high levels of traffic congestion and environmental concerns; today there are only about 500 people living within walking distance of downtown.
