West Allis, Wisconsin is located in the heart of the Wisconsin Prairie region. The city was founded in 1851 by George Washington Carver, and has been a center for agriculture and industry ever since. The city’s rich coffee history can be traced back to when it first became known as the “CoffeeCapital of America.” At that time, coffee was a mainstay in local society and was used to help make money. In 1870, West Allis became the first municipality in Wisconsin to legalize coffee production under the state’s new forest laws. West Allis is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The population was 31,362 at the 2010 census. West Allis is part of the Green Bay–Waukesha–Janesville, WI Combined Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now West Allis were Native Americans who hunted and fished in the Fox River area around present-day downtown and on its branches near Lake Michigan. In 1836, Niles Eldredge purchased 1,500 acres (560 ha) of land southeast of downtown from John James Audubon for $10 per acre (3 ha). He named his new town Eldridge after himself and donated all remaining land to the town government. By 1860, Eldridge had developed a small township with a post office, store, and schoolhouse on what are now Fourth Street and Wabash Avenue. The village of West Allis was organized on December 12th of that year by ordinance passed by a vote of residents attending a meeting held at First National Bank premises on Market Street. On January 10th 1865 two companies from The Army Corps of Engineers built Fort Snelling as part of an effort to improve navigation along Lake Michigan through western Wisconsin; however this fort did not take any serious damage during World War II due to its location outside city limits which made it impossible for the military to use it as an airfield or barracks. In 1872 Arapaho Chief Parker moved his camp about six miles northwestward from where he originally lived east side Township Road 6 west side Township Road 8 about one mile northward from present day Third Street between Park Avenue and Main Street; Northwest corner Third Street Northeast corner Main Streets then east side Third Street northeast corner Park Avenue about 2/3 mile southwesterly from original site today’s Arlington Heights neighborhood here today's United States Post Office building used as a garage before being torn down in 1957 when it became home to local high school students while their mother Elementary School continued using this building until 1978 when it burned down again which caused extensive damage resulting in lost classroom materials also much valuable tree trimming done over many years prior to that fire also leaving behind numerous large storm drains placed there still exist today behind that building next door today’s Sears Tower blocks away

Smith and other pioneers who arrived from Illinois. The first post office in West Allis was established in 1852. In 1855, the first railroad reached West Allis and it became an important transportation hub for the area until train services were discontinued in 1970. In 1879, Stonington Ladies' School opened in West Allis and served as a model for many later women's colleges and universities across America. Today, parts of the downtown district are designated as the West Allis Historic District which includes significant buildings dating back to 1850s when this part of town was still primarily agricultural land
