The Coast Guard Museum in Waukesha, Wisconsin has a collection of Coast Guard gifts that date back to the early 1800s. One of the earliest items in the museum’s collection is an American flag pin from 1853. The pin was given to Capt. John A. White, captain of the paddlewheel steamer “Wisconsin” by Rear Admiral James H. Fenton, commanding officer of USS Constitution (CV-4) during her visit to Waukesha on July 1, 1853. One of the more interesting gifts from the Coast Guard Museum is a set of three markers that commemorate service members killed during World War II. The markers were donated by Lt. Commander Don Schieffer, Jr., Commanding Officer UDT-648, when he served as Honorary Marine Historian for VFW Post 4308 in Milwaukee from 1984-1986. Another interesting gift from the museum is an American Flag Patch from 1947 which was given to Station 55 at Kankakee Harbor by Rear Admiral Harry Cargill during his tour as Commandant General United States Naval Reserve Fleet Atlantic Fleet stationed at Kankakee Harbor between 1945 and 1948.

Waukesha, Wisconsin is a town in Waukesha County,Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,813 at the 2010 census. It is the county's largest city and the home of Waukesha County Government. Waukesha was platted in 1836 by John Ransom on land west of Milwaukee which he had purchased from the Winnebago tribe. The name comes from an Ojibwe word meaning " Drinking Place." A post office called Wausaukee was established in 1841, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. The first settlers in what is now Waukesha included George Hinkle and his wife Lydia who arrived around 1837; they erected a log cabin on the west side of present-day Winthrop Street. In 1840 David Dudley built a two-story house on this lot. Early residents were farmers with small acreage but some developed into lumber and railroad businesses such as David Dudley Lumber Company (later merged into International Harvester). In 1854 Samuel Hubbard founded Hubbard Brewery which still operates today as one of Wisconsin's most successful breweries. In 1865 Arthur Myer organized a wagon road to connect Chicago with Rockford, Illinois; this became known as the Moline Bridge Road because shipments crossed over it on their way north to meet trains coming down the line from Racine or Milwaukee. In 1870 Fenton Gentry started a millinery shop at 302 E State St., later renamed Gentry & Co.; this business remains active to this day and employs about 100 people full time. also Other early businesses include: Jno Burch & Sons Mercantile Agency at 9th & State Streets (now part of First National Bank), Hudson’s store located at 242 Main Street between Springdale Avenue and University Avenue (now occupied by Walmart) which operated for three years before being forced out by consolidation; Harry Sorensen hardware store located on Elm Street near corner US 31st Street (now occupied by Sears); John Croom’s grocery store located at 4th and State Streets (later became Goodrich’s). In 1871 Danish immigrant Christian Gottlieb moved his family from Hamburg, Germany to start a bakery here; it continued operations until 1919 when it closed due to World War I casualties plus prohibition efforts enacted during that period required all bakeries across America to close their doors for fear of being raided by excise agentsduring Prohibition days many goods used up their ingredients making them difficult or impossible to produce so these shops also Closed including Gottlieb's Bakery but reopened under new ownership several years later

Waukesha, Wisconsin is a town located in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The population was 21,814 at the 2010 census. It has been part of the Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis (MWA) city region since 1998. The town was founded by German immigrants in 1836 and incorporated as a village in 1843. Waukesha became an all-city municipality on April 14, 1998. The first settler to come to what is now Waukesha County were two families from Germany who set out from Kiel on October 25,1836. They arrived at the mouth of Menomonee River and built their log cabin there before moving upriver overland to what is now Greenfield Township. A second group of Germans had better luck and began arriving in greater numbers around 1840. These people erected cabins along the Fox River where they soon started a grocery store and other small businesses that helped support the growth of Waukesha County. By 1846, when Waukesha was incorporated as a village, it boasted 10 stores and 100 residents; however, by 1850 only five stores remained while population had increased to 1,500! In 1898, after years of discussion between local officials and settlers about whether or not to become an all-city municipality (the idea being mooted because of freight rates), voters approved it with an 82% majority! This marks the first time that municipalities within Milwaukee metropolitan area voted on whether or not they should be made into full cities! Consequently, on April 14th 1998 Waukesha became an all-city municipality with a population size of 21,814 people! Today’s economy supports more than 300 businesses including 119 healthcare facilities across 27 counties which work together with 28 schools districts serving 2 million students each! In addition to its widely diversified economic base; Waukeeshas vibrant cultural scene offers visitors attractions like Moores Park Zoo & Aquarium; Pritzker Pavilion & West Side Market; State Fairgrounds & UW–Milwaukee research park – making it one of America’s most visited locales!
