In Two Rivers, Wisconsin, the United States Air Force has a long history of gifting items to citizens and organizations. Beginning in 1947, when the USAF's 75th Fighter Wing was activated at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, gifts were given to local groups as well as the general public. In 1951, the wing presented a gift of two C-46 Skytrain aircraft to the City of Two Rivers. Throughout these years there have been numerous other donations including equipment and training materials for local police forces as well as supplies for needy families affected by natural disasters like hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The United States Air Force gift history in Two Rivers, Wisconsin begins with the installation of the first bomber squadron in Two Rivers Municipal Airport on October 1, 1947. The airport was named for Colonel H.G. Wright, Jr., who had served as mayor of Two Rivers and predecessor to the current city government. The United States Air Force's Second Bombardment Squadron (later, First Bombardment Squadron) arrived at Two Rivers Municipal Airport on October 1, 1947. The First Bombardment Squadron operated Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft untilactivated on July 29th, 1959. Two Rivers Municipal Airport continued to serve as a reliever airport for Milwaukee and other western Wisconsin cities during the Korean War when it was renamed Kimpo Air Base. During the Vietnam War era it served as an airbase for USAF Tactical Air Command bombers participating in Operation Rolling Thunder which targeted North Vietnamese targets along South Vietnam's border. Today One Mile from Nowhere is home to two active bomb squadrons (the Third and Ninth Squadrons) belonging to the Eighth Wing stationed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst AFB in Patuxent River County Maryland which oversees all USAF operational forces located in that area of Maryland including Two Rivers Municipal Airport-.
Two Rivers is a small town in the far northwest corner of Wisconsin, on the border with Iowa. It is bordered by the states of Minnesota and Iowa to the north, and by Illinois to the east. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. The name Two Rivers comes from two forks in the River Le Sueur: one flowing southward through town, and another flowing eastward out of town. The present-day community was founded in 1854 when A. P. Hill built a sawmill on both forks of the river. During World War II, Two Rivers served as a supply depot for American troops fighting in Europe. After the war, it became an agricultural community that produced corn, wheat, soybeans and other crops until it went into decline in the late 1990s. In 2000, Two Rivers voters passed a proposition - Measure C - declaring themselves "the official citizens' city" of nearby Waukesha County; however, no change has been made to its zoning since then. The Three Ridges Dam project will create new land upstream from Two Rivers which will allow for more housing development and retail stores within walking distance of most residents; however this will not impact their access to water or local businesses such as grocery stores or banks.

Two Rivers is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the left bank of the Rock River north of Milwaukee. The population was 10,883 at the 2010 census. It was named after two forks of the Rock River: One near present-day Two Rivers and one near Waukesha. The first permanent settler in Two Rivers was John Doherty in 1834. He founded a small village on the east side of the river, which he called "Doherty's Point". In 1836, Danish immigrants Peter Christensen and his family arrived from Iowa and started a farm around what is now downtown Two Rivers. They built a log cabin and named it Gammonsgraven (meaning "Graveyard"). In 1840, William Fenton bought this property from Peter Christensen for $320 cash and erected a large stone house which served as both home and courthouse until it burned down in 1865. In 1851, local merchants Josias Sheehan, John Kappes, George Sauer, Augustus Baudoin and others organized what became known as the Chicago & Northern Railroad Company to build a line between Milwaukee and Prairie du Chien that would bypass Two Rivers on its way to Chicago. The company laid track through town in November 1853; when finished, it connected with the Illinois Central Railroad at Dearborn Junction west of town. By 1860, Two Rivers had become an important transportation hub on Wisconsin's railroad system – its depot handled 2 million passengers per year! In 1861–1862 during America's Civil War (the war caused by slavery), Two Bridges saw heavy fighting as Union forces tried to push southward along Ravenna Road from Fort Meade west to White Sands Landing on Lake Michigan; however no damage was done to either community by Confederate troops seeking revenge for their brothers' defeat at Chattanooga!). Although many buildings were destroyed by fire or bombardment during American Civil War times (Onebridge saw extensive artillery shelling during both presidential campaigns); overall two bridges over Rock River served as vital military road crossings connecting North Star County with southern Mason County; preventing any enemy advance into northcentral Wisconsin en route to Indianapolis or Chicago Additionally some documents show that about $4 million worth of goods were damaged or lost due to Sherman's march through these areas including crops being destroyed in Whitesburg County (near present day West Allis) along with several churches! After America's Civil War ended Regular Army troops withdrawn leaving behind huge stockpiles of munitions throughout much northern WI... This event helped spur development within adjacent towns such as Stevens Point where lumberyards sprang up while shipbuilding centers emerged nearby becoming major players in Wisconsin’s economy
