Air Force gift history in Sussex, Wisconsin began with the creation of the United States Air Force. On July 4, 1947, a meeting was held to create the organization and assign its first commander. The group that gathered at Curtiss-Wright Aerospace Corporation had many goals in mind: To defend America’s homeland against enemies from abroad, protect our people and property, and provide for air defense. One goal specifically mentioned was to “provide for the procurement of military equipment by means of gifts from private individuals or groups.” This was a start not only for Air Force gift history but also for Air National Guard gift history in general. With this directive came new guidelines on how gifts could be given and received within the USAF. On November 1, 1949 – two years after establishment of Air Defense Command – General Curtis LeMay organized an event to celebrateift victory over Japan in World War II. At this event $1 million worthof military equipment were given away as part of a civilian program known asOperation Victory Package which included foods such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, ice cream bars and candy bars (the last being donated by Milton Hershey). In 1957 Major General Charles A. Wickersham became Commander-in-Chief of Continental Air Forces which encompassed all USAAF forces except Strategic Air Command (SAC). As Commander-in-Chief he founded Operation Wideawake which resulted in donations totaling more than $15 million including items such as fighter planes, bombers and missiles. This donation helped continue SAC’s development while helping to improve Aeronautical Unit flying quality throughout the USAF inventory across all services! In 1969 General Stilwell became Commander-in-Chief at Far East Air Forces when Headquarters USAF moved from Okinawa to Seoul, South Korea permanently establishing American control over Northeast Asia! From here on out it would be an eraofairpower gifting! At his inaugurationGeneral Stilwell stated that his primary interest would centering around enhancing air offensive capability through providing innovative technology transfer programs with international partners! From then until today there have been countless auctions where various types of aircraft/weapons systems have been auctioned off both domestically (eBay)and internationally (Estate Auction House)! The USAF's predecessor organization, the American Volunteer Committee for World War I, was founded in 1917 to support America's participation in the war. In 1933, the USAF was formed as an operational branch of the Army Air Forces. It later became a full-fledged service branch of the Military Forces of the United States of America. Today, there are more than 120,000 active duty members and civilians assigned to serve with the USAF worldwide. The Service is committed to providing airlift capability for U.S. national security purposes, conducting international operations through its partner organizations, and providing training and education opportunities for our personnel and their families.
The Borough of Sussex, Wisconsin is located in the town of Sussex and it is a coterminous community with the village of Northville. The population was 1,545 at the 2000 census. The first Europeans to settle in what is now Sussex were French trappers and fur traders who came through the area in quest of game. The first settler on this site was Pierre Chouteau in 1833. In 1836, James Jinks settled here also and he named his settlement after his brother-in-law, John Jinks, Sr., who had come from England some years earlier. The early days of Sussex were very rough as there were few people living hereabouts and most things were done by hand due to lack of resources. However, over time things started to change for the better as people began to arrive here with their own families to start new lives and begin building new homes. This growth led to increased business opportunities which helped provide economic stability for the community. Today, Sussex has a strong community spirit that helps make it an excellent place to live and work. There are many cultural attractions such as its vibrant nightlife scene, great shopping experiences available within easy reach, and plenty of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed during warm weather months. With so many advantages available hereabouts, it's no wonder why Sussex has been dubbed "The Town That Time Forgot."
The USAF has a rich history of giving gifts. The first gift given by the USAF was an engine to the Russian bomber, the Tupolev Tu-4 in 1945. Since then, the USAF has given many different types of gifts, both large and small. Gifts have been given to various countries around the world, as well as its own air forces. Some of these have been significant such as the aircraftPurchase Agreement between NATO and Russia which gave NATO access to Soviet-made aircraft; or the $650 million donation to NASA in 1997 which helped improve space exploration. In recent years, there has been a trend towards smaller donations that are more personalised. This is in part due to increased attention being placed on giving back to society through philanthropy and giving backpacks for school children are one example. One of the most memorable gifts given by the USAF was The Congressional Gold Medal awarded to Admiral Carl Vinson for his role in leading US naval operations during World War II. This gesture showed appreciation forServing Our Country with distinction (SOC) and showed that not all members ofthe military were requiredto serve full time overseas during wartime - something that continues today with service members who may be deployed anywhere at any time!

The history of Sussex, Wisconsin dates back to 1836 when the town was organized as a small village in Dodge County. The community grew rapidly due to its location on the eastern edge of Milwaukee County and its access to a number of natural resources. The first post office was established in 1839, and by 1860, Sussex had reached a population of about 150 residents. During the late 19th century, many industries located in southeastern Wisconsin took advantage of the area's rich soil and natural resources. This led to the growth of Sussex into one of the largest communities in southeastern Wisconsin. In 1922, Sussex became part of Racine County and experienced rapid growth due to its proximity to both Milwaukee and Racine counties. In 1974, Sussex became a city within Racine County and has continued to grow since then. Today, Sussex is one of Racine County's most vibrant communities with a diverse economy that includes manufacturing, transportation businesses, health care services, retail stores and restaurants.
On October 1, 1855, the first railroad in Sussex County was built. The Chicago and Northwestern Railroad passed through Sussex on its way to Chicago.
