In Superior, Wisconsin, there has been a military deployment of gift history for many years. The United States Military Garrison of Superior was founded in 1847 and currently resides at Fort Snelling. The 1st Infantry Regiment (later the 3d Infantry) was stationed here from 1875-1887 and then again from 1893-1911. In 1911, the garrison was transferred to Milwaukee and opened to the public. From 1919-1985, it resided in Green Bay until it moved back to Superior in 1986. The United States Military Garrison of Superior offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the history of military deployments on this small town in northwestern Wisconsin. display cases with items from past deployments are open during regular visitor hours or by special appointment; a diorama depicting life on post is open daily 9am-5pm; and exhibits about local history are open throughout the year (see website for current schedule). There is also a museum located adjacent to the fort that contains artifacts from both early American settlers and members of the U.S. military since 1941.

The Superior Soldier's Association was founded in 1892 and the first troops arrived in 1898. The army stationed here during World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. In 1951, the unit reorganized as a battalion and has continued to grow. Today, there are over 1,500 members of the battalion located throughout Wisconsin.
Superior, Wisconsin is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. The town is located in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin. It is part of the Green Bay–West Allis metropolitan area. The first settler in Superior was John Fitch who arrived on July 20, 1836 and built a cabin on a hill overlooking the Town Square. He named his cabin "Finch's Hill" after his contemporary George Finch who had also settled in that area some miles to the south near Pascagoula Lakeshore (now known as Menasha). In 1847, Isaac Decker moved from Manitowoc County to Superior and founded the first post office there which he called "Decker's Mills." In 1851, Arent Hendricks bought land east of Fitch's Cabin and started to build an estate which became known as Hendricks Park today. In 1857, David Ladd purchased property east of Hendricks Park from Hendricks and erected a new courthouse with additions including a jail and blacksmith shop on current State Road 612 north of Superior Avenue. A fire destroyed most of downtown Superior on November 8, 1889; however, several stores were saved by firefighters who used axes to break up large boulders blocking exits from the burning district. On May 15th 1888 Wm Henson opened what would become one of America’s earliest drive-in movie theaters when he leased space from Jens Weidmann at 516 Washington Street SE in what is now known as Weidmann Plaza ( adjacent to present day KFC). On October 21st 1912 Wm Henson leased space again from Jens Weidmann for $1 per week at 525 Washington Street SE where he continued to operate until December 14th 1926 when he sold it to Harry Snyder for $15 per week effective January 1st 1927 ( boundaries changed February 14th 1935) . On April 12th 1924 Reginald Kittredge opened his successful plumbing store at 501 Main Street NE cornering State Road 312 North near present day Qwest Bank (north side). This store would be among those locations hit hardest by prohibition during Prohibition years with many customers choosing not to purchase alcohol because it was illegal under federal law…..Later that year Reginald Kittredge reopened his store under new management with different hours until its closure onFebruary 17th 1933 due largely to high taxes experienced during Prohibition led by Governor Robert La Follette…. Prior thereto Reginalde Kittredged had been operating outof his home at 505 Main Street NE between Railroad Avenue NW and Noyes Drive NW since 1919….On Thursday March 9th 1933 Henry Ford presented a plaque honoring Reginald Kittredge recognizing him as being “the last remaining original owner/operator”of The Ford Motor Company car dealership locatedat 424 Noyes Drive NW across streetfrom Qwest bank prior thereto…Kittredge died suddenly less than two weeks later resulting in charges against his wife Alma late Wednesday nightMarch 16th 1933..The business closed its doors for good about one month earlier than planned due mainlyto high taxes levied during prohibition……Afterward ownership passed through several hands before finally becoming part Of Saginaw Valley Mall Holdings LLC following their acquisitionof mall assets September 11th 2016

Superior, Wisconsin is a small town located in the western part of the state of Wisconsin. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. The name "Superior" was given to the community by pioneer settlers in 1855. The first post office in Superior was established in 1857. Today, Superior is a unincorporated community and county seat of Swift County. The area now known as Superior included what are today the towns of Superior and Hudsonville and parts of present-day Dane and Winnebago counties. In 1827, James Hutton assigned four men from Green Bay to explore the land around Superior on behalf of his father-in-law, Simon Olyphant. They named their party "The exploring party from Green Bay." On July 17, 1830, they discovered an excellent site for a new settlement on east side of current day Superior River near where it flows into Lake Michigan
On July 1, 1854, Superior was incorporated as a town in the now-defunct County of La Crosse. The town had a population of about 175 people and it was first to be organized as a village on May 6, 1856. On October 1, 1861, Superior was annexed by the City of La Crosse. The city's population grew rapidly and by 1900 it had a total population of 2,500 people. In 1905 the city also annexes the towns of Alma and Northfield.
