As a town of just over 8,000 people, Sun Prairie had little opportunity to develop its coffee industry until the early 1900s. However, the town's first Coffee House was opened in 1892 and has been serving coffee since then. The Coffee House is still in operation today and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sun Prairie. In 1893, local carpenter Luther Enderby began to roasted coffee beans on his property. He named his business after himself - Enderby's Coffee & Bazaar - which continued to be open until 1959. In 1915, Augustus Kelley started a small grocery store next door to the Enderby Coffee House and soon became Sun Prairie's first commercial roaster. In 1922, Kelley opened the first bakery in Sun Prairie and soon became known for his fresh-baked goods. In 1933, Jack Haggerty purchased the Enderby Coffee House from Luther Enderby and renamed it Haggerty's Coffee Shop. It would stay open until 1984 when it was sold again to current owner John Kappelhof Jr.. In 2006, Kappelhof reopened the shop as an independent business under the nameSunPrairie Grocery Co.'s First Place Café with expanded seating for up to 150 customers inside and outside on two decks overlooking Lake Michigan. Today, SunPrairie Grocery Co.'s First Place Café is one of Wisconsin's largest independentlyowned businesses selling both food and coffee products. The shop also offers tours of their historic buildings each week during lunchtime from curator Lori Kwokkemarie!
Sun Prairie, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Polk County. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. Sun Prairie is located about west-northwest of Milwaukee on the shores of Lake Michigan and east-southeast of Green Bay on the border with Michigan. The first settler in what became Sun Prairie was John Loughborough in 1838. He founded a farm named "Loughborough's Crossing" on what is now State Highway 54 east of present day Sun Prairie. Loughborough had been living near Chicago when he decided to move his family to what would become Sun Prairie in 1840 and built a log cabin nearby on land that he donated to the townspeople. The first post office was established in 1846, but it was not until 1861 that Sun Prairie got its own courthouse. In 1863, lumber magnate James Fenton bought land northeast of Sun Prairie and began building an iron Works which eventually became one of America's leading manufacturers of locomotives and other railroad equipment. In 1896, Henry Ford started a small manufacturing plant south of Sun Prairie which later became known as Ford Motor Company (FORD). The town developed into an important agricultural center during the early 20th century due to its excellent farmland, good transportation links, and large population growth rates; however, it lost some importance after World War II because suburban development increased access to resources outside the town limits

Sun Prairie is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha metropolitan area. Sun Prairie was platted in 1871 by George Washington Carver and his wife Jane Addams as a farming community with a post office called "Carver". The name originated from the sun that shone on the village during summertime. The first settlers were soldiers returning home from World War I who built cabins near what is now downtown Sun Prairie. In 1924, Orville Sprague started an agricultural company in Sun Prairie which eventually became one of the largest in Wisconsin. Sprague offered seeds to farmers throughout Wisconsin and he also gave away animals to help with feedings. He also donated land for a public park which still exists today named after him and his wife Jane Addams. In 1957, Sun Prairie annexed neighboring Racine and incorporated into it as a single municipality under the name of Racine-Sun Prairie-Black Earth Borough. In 1978, Racine-Sun Prairie-Black Earth Borough merged with Milwaukee to form Milwaukee–Waukesha Metropolitan Area
