It wasn’t until 2003 that the first modern small batch coffee roaster opened up in town. The origins of smallbatch coffee can be traced back to 1978 when three friends from Milwaukee founded a business called Waterfront Coffee Company. They started growing their own beans and selling them directly to consumers through retail stores and cafés around Milwaukee. In 2003, Waterfront Coffee Company was acquired by Guardian Coffee Roasters, which continues to operate the company today as one of its subsidiary brands. Stoughton is a town in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. The village of Stoughton is located within the town. The first settler in what is now Stoughton was John Grimes in 1837. He and his family built a cabin on the banks of the Kettle River. Other early settlers included John Pritchard, James Hickey, and Ebenezer Cook. A post office called "Stoughton" was established in 1847, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1951. In 1854, Isaac Noyes raised crops and cattle near present-day Stoughton Village to provide food for himself and his family. He named his property "Noyes' Prairie". In 1861, he donated land for a school which became known as the Noyes School District No. 2.. In 1870, Jens Hansen moved to Stoughton from Green Bay with his wife Magdalena and their children Oleander (1871-1955), Anna (1872-1945), Julius (1876-1964), Elsa (1878-1962), Johanne (1900-) and Lauridsen(1902-) also arrived in what is now Stoughton after trekking across country from Minnesota via Hudson Bay.. They set up homes on what would become known as Hansen's Hillcrest estate east of town.. The first schoolmaster of the district was Mr. Fenton who taught 5th grade before moving to Racine where he continued teaching until 1906 when he retired due to ill health.. In 1886 Mrs.(Moses) Schofield started teaching Kindergarten with her three daughters before moving into full time education at Racine High School where she stayed until 1957 when she retired due to retirement age requirements set by then Superintendent Drury & Associates Incorporated After teacher Schofield’s retirement there were 3 principals: Mrs.(John) Lantz Sr., Mrs.(Alice) Deaner & Mrs.(Hannah) Goudreau until 1965 when Alma Beisner took over as Principal . She held that position until 1978 when Barbara Wehnert took over . In 1985/1986 another principal: Missus(Linda) Crain assumed leadership vacated by Missus(Hannah) Goudreau who had married Paul Wehnert Jr .. On November 15th 1984 Msgr./Revd./Prayer Leader Revd./Pastor David Weninger officiated at dedication of new High School building which replaced old barn which had been used as Middle School since 1954 . This gave birth to what is now known as “drip perfectionism” – where people became obsessed with perfecting every detail about how their drinks looked, smelled and tasted. This approach led to some very unique cup experiences which continue to be enjoyed by today’s enthusiasts. 3) In 1992, Koffee Klatch started operations as the first commercially funded smallbatch coffee program in the United States. This program helped spread awareness about high quality smallbatch coffees around the world and set a precedent for how other companies can support this type of programming. It was also this period that saw something truly groundbreaking happen when espresso machines became available that could make ground coffee at home instead of just making espresso like everyone else did! This opened up new possibilities for homebrewers who wanted to explore additional flavor profiles without having to go through rigorous manufacturing processes
