Stevens Point, Wisconsin is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Door County. The population was 146,940 at the 2010 census, making it the 11th largest city in Wisconsin. It is located on the Fox River near Milwaukee, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Madison. The name Stevens Point comes from John Stevens who settled here in 1847. The first permanent settler in what would become Stevens Point was Levi Leveen in 1836. Growth began rapidly with the arrival of settlers from Illinois and Michigan during the 1830s and 1840s. In 1845, James Fenton purchased 640 acres (253 hectares) along both sides of the Fox River for $8 per acre ($140 per kilometer). This site became known as Fenton's Landing after him and his brother-in-law, Nathan Bedford Forrest Kimball developed it into a small town that grew rapidly around its wharf on which goods were unloaded from steamboats to be carried by wagon or horse back to their homes or businesses across the river. In 1851, Revolutions occurred throughout Europe which led to a decrease in trade with America and an increase in traffic through European ports such as Hamburg, Germany; Liverpool, England; Amsterdam; Rotterdam; Bruges; Paris; and Trieste. With exports drying up and investment dropping off, Fenton decided to move his business operations back upstream to where they could be nearer consumers rather than ship all products downstream again like they had done before. He named his new settlement "Stevens Point" after himself and donated land for a school district that would serve this new community – now known as Door County – boundary defining it politically until 1974 when Wisconsin adopted its current boundaries which included most of downtown Stevens Point including four blocks east of Superior Avenue between Washington Street and First Street northward to Lake Michigan shoreline beyond Second Street eastward to Superior Avenue westward One significant event during this time period was one nightmarish attempt by Indians called "the Great Sioux War" which resulted in more than 100 civilians being killed while frontier militia fought off an attack by 515 Dakota Sioux warriors led by Chief Little Bighorn over several days beginning October 3rd1876 near present day Wauwatosa just east of town limits on State Highway 41W On September 17th1877 a group commanded by then Commanding Officer Capt John J M angus attacked American forces at Black Hawk Swamp outside present day Green Bay resulting in two officers killed as well as sixteen enlisted men wounded including six soldiers who later died from their injuries In 1880 following passage of State Constituency Act No 1 status for Door County changed hands with majority becoming part of Appleton & Oshkosh areas only eastern edge remaining part of Stevens point

Under Forrestal’s guidance USAAFE played a significant role in influencing European nations towards democracy and pacifism during World War II by providing aerial support forOperation Overlord (the Normandy Invasion). 2) On July 16th 1946 Major General Curtis LeMay assumed command of USAF Task Force 58 which was responsible for destroying Japanese targets within Hiroshima and Nagasaki using strategic bombing techniques pioneered by American Bomber Command (AFC). The task force's successful raids destroyed over 60% of the city block within Hiroshima City limits while sparing neighbouring towns and villages which were still living with radiation exposure from previous atomic bombings attacks against Japan two years earlier. LeMay later stated that "Hiroshima was turned into a smoking ruin" after his forces dropped 2 million tons or more bombs on Hiroshima during their seven day assault campaign - one third of all strategic bomber damage inflicted during World War II
