Shorewood is a town in the town of Hayward, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,912 at the 2010 census. Shorewood was founded by Germans in 1836 and became a city in 1909. The first coffee beans were grown in Shorewood on the farm of John Kocher. Coffee beans are now produced throughout the world by more than seventy-five thousand growers. Coffee has been enjoyed by humans for over 4,000 years and there are many references to it in literature and history. In 515 BC, Pythagoras is recorded as having said "Coffee is the drink of wisdom." In 1207 AD, Nicholas Calvados wrote about Findelbrecht'sExperiment with Roasting Beans which demonstrated that roasted beans could be stored heated without going bad. Furthermore, Ibn Battuta reported that coffee was used to bribe officials during Islamic rule in Africa. In 1784 AD Englishman John Thornton opened his first store selling coffee from his plantation near present day Hayward. Thornton's store quickly became popular because of its good quality coffee and he soon had two stores open each day plus a warehouse where he stored his beans. By 1800 Thornton had become one of the largest roasters in America with twenty-four stores across twelve states including Illinois and Massachusetts). The earliest reference to coffee as we know it comes from Arabic traders who visited America between 1492-1500 who noted Native Americans drinking hot peppers mixed with rice called baharat (مَبْرُوت) or black pepper water which they thought would give them strength while traveling through difficult terrain or when raiding villages inland; these sailors also brought back plants such as cedar trees which were used to produce syrup etc., thus providing us with our first physical evidence that roasted coffee actually did exist at this time!

Shorewood is a town in southwestern Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 20,651 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of Milwaukee County and is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The first European to visit Shorewood was Jean Nicolet in 1654. He named it Point du Jour after a point on Lake Michigan he had seen from his ship while sailing between Detroit and northern Canada. A post office was established in 1836, and by 1857 the community had about 100 residents. Shorewood's first store opened in 1859, selling goods such as flour, soap, candles and shoes to residents of nearby Racine and Waukesha counties. By 1865 Shorewood had a schoolhouse and two churches: one Congregational and one Baptist. In 1870 shorewood became an incorporated town with a government that included five trustees; its first mayor was George Muth (1821-1903). In 1898 then-newly incorporated Shorewood annexed what were then Racine Township (now Waukesha) but by 1912 when these towns were combined they still elected their own mayors until 1963 when that system changed to nonpartisan mayoral elections all municipalities within Milwaukee County are now represented by one Mayor per ward regardless of size
Shorewood is a town in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,719 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Waukesha–Manitowoc Metropolitan Statistical Area. Shorewood is located on the Fox River and is crossed by the Fond du Lac Path and Iron Bridge. The first settlers in Shorewood were Nathan Franklyn and his family who arrived in 1837 from England. In 1840, John Blackmore came to the area as captain of boats on the Illinois-Indiana Canal and bought land near present day Shorewood for $1,000. He built a log cabin which he named "Blackmore's Grove". In 1846, Elijah White settled along what is now State Road 54 east of town. A year later he also founded a store called White's Store which trading post still stands today across from the old high school building on State Highway 54A (now US 66). In 1848, James Browning settled in what is now Shorewood with his family after moving from Wausau, Wisconsin two years earlier. Browning farmed until 1861 when he became headmaster of local schools in nearby Racine. In 1865, Jabez Journell purchased some timber west of town from Samuel Belcher for $10 per ton and began harvesting lumber there for his new mill which would become one of largest paper mills in Wisconsin during that time period In 1867-68 Charles Weiser established an oil well near present day shorewood which produced over 100 barrels per day at its peak production before it ran out of oil due to low quality shale formations available in that area . After losing its oil source weiser closed down his business but continued to operate his gristmill here until 1971 when it was replaced by a more modern mill . : In 1890s John Haggerty started farming hereabouts too producing hay , wheat & flowers

Shorewood is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. Shorewood is located on the shore of Lake Michigan and is bordered by Kenosha to the north, Racine to the east, and Waukesha to the south. The town was platted in 1847 and named for John Shore, an early settler. The first settlers in what is now Shorewood were Methodists from England who came overland through Canada in 1836. They established a small settlement on the east side of Lake Michigan near where present day Highway 24 intersects with State Street. In 1847, John Shore platted what would become Shorewood onto land that he had purchased from James Kappes of Milwaukee. On December 1, 1847, it became a part of the newly formed Rock County which included all of Milwaukee County as well as parts of Racine and Waukesha Counties. John Shore died in 1870 and his wife Sarah continued to live there until her death in 1902; however their son John Jr., also lived there until his death in 1943). His widow Mary moved into her father's house until she could find another place to live after World War II when she retired from her job as a teacher; she then moved into her father's house permanently. In 1948, Speedwell Elementary School opened its doors to students in Shorewood representing all portions of Rock County including Kenosha Township which did not have any schools at that time! In 1951-1952 changes were made to Rock County government with the consolidation of most departments within Milwaukee County government creating six new agencies: Department Of Corrections (now known as Department Of Justice), Department Of Revenue (now known as Treasurer/Tax Collector), Department Of Public Works (now known as Water Resources Authority), Department Of Social Services (now known as Developmental Services District), andDepartment Of Transportation (Now Known As Motor Vehicles Division). With this change comes also many names for some previous agencies which remain unchanged today: DepartmentOfPublic Works - now called Water Resources Authority departmentofsocial services - now called Developmental Services District
The town of Shorewood was founded in 1847 by John and Anna (Netherland) Shore. It became a village in 1857, and then a town in 1871. In 1916, the town was annexed by the city of Milwaukee.
