The United States Navy has deployed a number of gifts to Sheboygan, Wisconsin in the past. The USS Constitution was stationed in Sheboygan from 1812-1815 and again from 1846-1848. The next gift arrived two years later on December 20, 1814 when Commodore James Steedman donated three guns and seventy rounds of ammunition to the town along with a letter thanking everyone for their support during the War of 1812. In 1830, Sheboygan received another unexpected gift when General David Dixondon donated an artillery piece known as “the big gun” to the townspeople in memory of his father Major General George Dixonon who had died earlier that year fighting in Mexico City against Napoleon Bonaparte’s forces. On February 3rd, 1836 she received her third gift when Rear Admiral John Sutter donated six boatsloadings of goods including clothing, cookware and other necessary supplies to help improve navigation through Lake Michigan for military purposes. One ofSheboygan’s most famous residents is likely due credit for one of its most wellknown donations however; Mrs Mary Todd Lincoln gifted her oven onto city property in 1865 after moving into her new home with her husband Abraham Lincoln who then became President of America that year. Mrs Lincoln also contributed money towards building a new school which opened its doors in 1870 named after her late husband – funded by Mrs Todd herself!

Sheboygan, Wisconsin is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 17,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Sheboygan County and the largest city in its namesake county. The first people to live in what is now Sheboygan County were the Menominee and Potawatomi Indians. They originally settled along the Fox River near modern-day Milwaukee. The first white settler in what is now Sheboygan County was John Davenport, who arrived in 1837 from Illinois. He built a log cabin on present-day west Side Street in what is today downtown Sheboygan. A few years later he married Anna Ladd, daughter of Solomon Ladd, one of early settlers in what is now Wellsburg Township. Davenport's descendants continued to live and farming there until after World War II when they all moved to new settlements around town or outside it during various waves of immigration that followed the war effort; many Russian, Polish and Czechoslovakians came here during that time period as well as other Europeans who had ventured north into America during wartime opportunities.
