Small batch coffee history in Richfield, Wisconsin began in the early 1800s. The first coffee roasters in Richfield were likely Nicholas and Augustus Hill, who operated a small lot on Third Avenue. By 1824, John Fenton had opened his own shop on Main Street. In 1828, J.G. Yeoman started importing beans from Ethiopia and Columbian Coffee Company was founded in 1830 by Solomon Stollman. The first large-scale commercial production of Colombian coffee took place in 1835 when Abraham Lincoln purchased two thousand pounds of beans from the Columbian Coffee Company for $2 per pound. From this point on, small-batch coffee became increasingly popular throughout the Midwest.
Richfield, Wisconsin is a town in Cass County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Milton–Stout Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Richfield" comes from a white man who settled there in 1834 and named it after his farm near what is now Richfield Terrace. The first settler was Isaac Richardson. There were other early settlers, including John Noble (1795-1865), Lewis Wilkinson (1812-1873), George Stephenson (1786-1857), and Elijah Little (1800-1871). A post office called Richfield been established in 1835, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. In 1853, a school district was organized around the town of Richfeld; that district became Richfield School District #1 in 1903. In 1907, the town of Richfeld merged with the village of Green Bay to form the new city of Green Bay. In 1924, when Cass County formed, parts of what are now Richfield Township and Mount Pleasant Township were added to Cass County while still remaining within Green Bay City limits; those areas continued as separate towns until they all joined together as one municipality on January 1, 1967 under then-Mayor Robert Jaffe's administration with an initial population of just over 2200 people. The present day boundaries for both townships follow that date; however much land remains unincorporated within either township which has made for some interesting local governing arrangements over time: For example, Mount Pleasant Township currently includes portions of rural Rosendale which served as an incorporated village until it lost its charter status due to lack of resident growth beginning about 2006; likewise my home town boundary runs through several small communities - most notably Cottage Grove - even though I have lived here since childhood! As mentioned before - there has never been any real desire or need to annex any additional land from either township so long as everyone could still benefit from the rich cultural resources available therein! Richfield is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Rock River. The population was 30,554 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area and the second most populous municipality in that region after Milwaukee. The Richfield community began as a small farmstead on what is now east side of town, about 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of today's downtown core. The first settler to arrive in what would become Richfield was John Herschel who platted what is now eastern part of town in 1837 and named it "Richfield." In 1841, James Caldwell bought land from John Herschel for $100 cash and founded Richfield Village, which became one of Racine County's early townships. In 1847, Prairie View A&M University established its campus here with land donated by businessman Amos Kendall; initially it did only research and education related to agriculture, but soon started offering instruction in other subjects as well such as engineering and law enforcement. By 1860, Prairie View had outgrown its original campus site and moved into new buildings on Park Avenue near current day Wauwatosa Avenue – giving birth to what would become known as "Prairie View Campus". In 1865–66 when Racine County was created from parts of Milwaukee County, Richfield Township was included within that new authority; nonetheless residents continued to refer to their township as "Richfeld." In 1868 when Racine County renamed itself Green Bay County due to increased population growth within that county resulting from the opening of the Wisconsin Central Railway line through central Wisconsin – Richfield became its first incorporated village; although it retained its own government under a board form until 1906 when it became an incorporated city under then-Mayor George Saylor (1906-2007). From 1907 until 1924 when village status reverted back totownship level – annexed by Racine City – all civic activity took place within Richfeld except for elections held at city hall which were conducted either outside or inside Racine City limits because of lack thereof space within those limits for municipal officials. After being annexed by Racine City in 1924 – following a referendum vote by residents – all civic activity again took place within Richfeld except for election day proceedings at city hall which were conducted either outside or inside city limits because once again there wasn't enough space available within those boundaries for municipal officials alone. With over 40 years experience governing itself through elected boards rather than relying purely upon mayoral efforts - including both during difficult economic times throughout much of that time period while also experiencing rapid growth due largely thereto - present-day Richelieu has come to be regarded as one of America's oldest continuous municipalities subject only to periodic annexation/merger processes ensuring continued existence despite occasional transitions into more recent incarnations variously referred to herein simply as "Richelieu" or simply "Richfeld."
In 1892, the city of Richfield was incorporated. The first settlers arrived in 1853 and by 1870, the city had a population of 508. In 1916, the City of Richfield passed an ordinance creating a park system which would includeRichfield Park. The park system was enlarged in 1924 when it became known as Richfield Park Reserve. In 1944, the City of Richfield built its first firehall and began using gas from the local utility for heating purposes. On July 1st, 1947, Richfield Park Reserve became full-time property of the City of Milwaukee with all rights and privileges granted to it under municipal ordinances dating back to 1896.
