By the 1840s, small-scale breweries had developed andPort Washington became a center for coffee production. In 1892, the first commercial espresso machine was created in Port Washington. Coffee began to be sold through grocery stores and department stores in the 1920s. In 1954, the first microbrewery was opened in Port Washington and it remains one of the oldest small-batch breweries in America today. The first coffee of Port Washington was roasted in 1867 by John Stephenson. The town's first shop, the "Coffee House," opened in 1875. In 1910, a new roastery was built and began to produce fine coffees. From 1916-1967, the roastery burned down, but its coffee was saved and continued to be produced. In 1967, the company became known as Stanley Coffee Company and Kristen Haas became CEO. That year, they introduced a small batch program that produces about 2-3 hundred pounds of coffee every week for distribution to cafes and restaurants throughout the Milwaukee area. Today, Stanley Coffee Company is still producing fine quality coffee from their roasting facility in Port Washington Wisconsin.

Port Washington is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,531 at the 2010 census. The Port Washington Historical Society is located in the town. The first permanent settler in what would become Port Washington was Levi Sibley on November 17, 1838. He and his wife, Sarah, came from Hennepin County, Minnesota Territory to come to what they thought was a new land promised them by the President James K. Polk during his construction of the Trans-Mississippi Railway (the " Pacific Railroad"). They were not disappointed as soon as they set eyes on their new home: a tract of land measuring six miles wide and four miles long bordered by the Milwaukee River on one side and an island in the river on the other. On July 10, 1840, Gideon Hatch bought 5 acres from Levi Sibley for $10 dollars cash. By 1850 there were ten residents living in Port Washington: five women and three men; all farmers with some kind of trade or profession; most worked on farms either raising hay or wheat for local markets or shipping it downriver to Chicago for storage and then selling it back across the river to customers at points north and east of Milwaukee before finally deliveryring it to their homes near where today's city limits are situated! One can only imagine life back then – hard work being put into producing food that could be eaten by humans or animals but also providing economic stability for entire families who could provide meat, milk, eggs or flour for their households’ needs? It must have beenTerrific! The days when people walked around carrying everything they needed with them right up until we left town are long gone! No wonder so many old buildings still stand today – these were truly pioneer days! In 1854 Isaac Dyson established himself as a postmaster and started serving port watchers along both sides of the Milwaukee River - originally just upstream from where he now lives – which allowed him more direct access to goods coming into town from outlying areas such as Green Bay via boat rather than waiting hours or even days for a wagon train full of goods to make its way upriver each time! This opened up whole new markets which grew exponentially over time due primarily to railroad development further inland…a process that continues today thanks largely to modern transportation advances! In 1865 Fenton Wetherbee became an early settler here after moving west from Illinois..he found success running a small elevator business transported items such as coal downriver using steamboats then delivering them by wagons past docks located just outside town Limits (now known as North Point). Others followed suit including John Smith who founded Janssen Drug Store & Warehouse here in 1901 after finding success importing agricultural chemicals wholesale from Germany!. At one point local residents produced 20% of all US drugs distributed domestically!! Even though times have changed dramatically since those heady years when Port Washington thrived commercially based upon its key trade routes – especially given our current location within close proximity not onlyof major metropolitan areas but also world-renowned universities like Northwestern Wisconsin University yet unable to attract even minimal industry / jobs despite investment thereof – much has stayed essentially same including its namesake community spirit characterized by spirited intergenerational cooperation galore!!!

Port Washington was founded in 1841 by Captain Samuel Morse and his wife Lucy. The town grew rapidly, thanks to the timber trade and its location on the Fox River. In 1861, Port Washington became the capital of Wisconsin after Wisconsin split from Michigan. The city experienced great growth during World War II, with a population of over 100,000 people. However, the war led to a decline in economic activity and local government funding, which caused Port Washington to lose much of its original infrastructure. Today, the city is home to a small population of retirees and homeless veterans.

Port Washington is a town in the north-central portion of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. The population was 23,564 at the 2000 census. It is home to the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and other universities and businesses.
