The Wisconsin National Guard was organized on December 12, 1861 when the government of Wisconsin authorized the creation of a volunteer militia to protect its citizens. The first national guard unit was created in Port Washington, WI and was known as Company A. On July 1, 1862, Company A was redesignated Company L and transferred to the city of Milwaukee. On November 9, 1866, the company changed its name to Battery D and again moved to Milwaukee. On February 3, 1871, Battery D became Battalion C and finally Battalion L on January 1st of each year. In 1903 Battery D became Company G and disbanded on that date due to budget restraints. The organization of the Wisconsin National Guard has been sporadic throughout its history with only a few months presence in any given town or county. However, this doesn’t reflect poorly on the volunteers who have put their whole selves into these organizations over time. The members who serve in these units are some of the most dedicated people in our country and they truly do care about their fellow citizens.

The National Guard has been in Port Washington, Wisconsin since the 1800s. The first units were organized in 1847 and served in the Mexican War. In 1863, the first unit of the Wisconsin National Guard was activated to serve in the Union Army during the American Civil War. After the war, Milwaukee County formed a regional militia to support federal troops fighting in the Midwest. In 1907, Guardsmen from Milwaukee County helped organize what is now called the Wisconsin Army National Guard. Port Washington, Wisconsin is a small town located in the Town of Appleton, about 20 miles north of Milwaukee. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is the only village in Port Washington. The first residents of what is now Port Washington were white settlers from Indiana who arrived around 1839. They named their community after their home state of Illinois, but it soon became known as "Port Washington" because that's where they had heard the name pronounced by their Indian neighbors. The lumber industry played an important role in early Port Washington life. When the railroad was built through town in 1852, mills sprang up to create new jobs and help support the rapidly growing town. The industry declined during World War I, but recommenced after the war when demand for wood grew again. Today some of Port Washington's most famous landmarks are its three churches - St John's Episcopal (founded 1836), First Baptist (1875) and Methodist (1901) - and its two schools - Huntingdon School (founded 1865) and Wabash Valley High School (opened in 1957). Today many people still live in rural areas outside of Port Washington and continue to rely on agriculture for their sustenance; however there are currently efforts being made to revive the local logging industry which may be able to provide some jobs for those who can't find other employment opportunities within port wisconsin

It also provides civilian support through its Civilian Support Command (CSC) and other detachments scattered across America. The DOD also oversees certain aspects of military procurement including contracts for equipment and supplies needed by various branches of service within DOD itself as well as private companies conducting defense sales abroad under DOD auspices. In addition, there are numerous joint task forces composed entirely or nearly entirely of elements from both the Army and Marines--a unique aspectof national security policymaking not found elsewhere in either world order system.[1]

Port Washington, Wisconsin was one of the most important cities in the United States from its foundation until it experienced a drastic decline in population and economy during the late 19th century. The town was founded by German immigrants in 1847 and grew rapidly due to its location on the Mississippi River. However, by 1871, Port Washington had shrunk to just over 1,000 residents. Its fortunes changed however when railroads came through the area and began transporting goods and passengers between Chicago and Milwaukee. This new industry brought jobs and money to Port Washington which helped revive the city’s economy. In addition, Port Washington became a center for Lutheranism because of its close proximity to both Chicago and Madison. The city also attracted settlers from all over America as they saw an opportunity to get rich off of railroads. By 1899, Port Washington had regained some of its former glory but still lackedadequate infrastructure such as water supplies or schools. This situation changed when President Theodore Roosevelt approved a bill that funded two new bridges across the river at Port Washington. These bridges allowed for more people to move into town and help spur economic development once again. Since then, PortWashington has seen significant growth thanks to this investment from government officials as well as entrepreneurs who have taken advantage of the new opportunities created by railroad travel
