Beattie was the owner and proprietor of the local Gun Store on Third Street in Pleasant Prairie. The store became known for its superior quality guns, and it was one of the first stores to offer sales by mail order. In 1923, Beattie passed away and his son-in-law, Harry Wirths, took over the store. Wirths renamed the store "Harry Wirth's Gun Shop" and continued to sell firearms through mail order until 1974 when he sold the business to Bob Weisbrot who operated it until 1984 when it was acquired by John Ritchie who operates it today. In 1984, John Ritchie purchased Harry Wirth's Gun Shop from Bob Weisbrot and continues operations today as "John Ritchie's Gun Shop". In recent years John has started unusual programs such as giving away property tax refunds to those who buy firearms at his shop during special sales events called "Families Day." Pleasant Prairie is a town in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Pleasant Prairie was James Paxson in 1851. The name "Pleasant Prairie" was given to the town by their postmaster, Elijah Payson. The first store in Pleasant Prairie was opened in 1868 by J.D. Quinlan and his brother-in-law Ephraim Wisniewski. The townsite at present located within Pleasant Prairie was organized as a village on November 3, 1872 by incorporation of sections from three other towns: Mayville (now West Allis), Archer City (now Racine), and White River Falls (then called Cedarburg). This village had a total population of 375 people when it incorporated. On February 14, 1886, the last section of what would become Pleasant Prairie became an independent city with a population of 602 people when it voted to join the city of Milwaukee proper. On January 1, 1907, the last section of what would become Pleasant Prairie – including its original village – became an independent town again when it voted to join the new Racine County seat; this time with a population of 2,814 people In 1923 saw the opening of one of Wisconsin's first drive-in cinemas which still stands today - The Drive-In movie theater located on North Fourth Street in Pleasant Prairie - making it one of only two drive-in cinemas remaining in operation statewide outside Milwaukee metropolitan area On September 12th 1951 local farmers decided they needed more water so they built a dam across White River just east and south of their current site; this created not only much needed irrigation for their crops but also made possible development that Lies northward from downtown white river falls into residential neighborhoods today known as Brown Deer subdivision

Pleasant Prairie is located in the town of Greendale, Wisconsin. The community was founded in 1854 by John and Nancy Goodrich. The Goodrichs were among the first settlers in what would become Milwaukee County. Pleasant Prairie grew rapidly during the early years of its existence, becoming a small town with over 100 residents by 1881. However, because it was located within the city limits of Milwaukee at that time, Pleasant Prairie had little impact on local politics or culture. In 1912, when Milwaukee County was divided into two parts, Pleasant Prairie became part of the new Whitewater Township. This change created some challenges for the community; since Whitewater Township was smaller than either of the other two townships within Milwaukee County, people living in Pleasant Prairie had fewer opportunities to get involved with local government affairs. Its earliest settlers arrived from various parts of America during the mid-19th century and formed their own cultures based on their individual environments and experiences.
