When Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin was first settled in the early 1800s, coffee beans were not yet a common crop. However, with the discovery of rich coffee soils in that area, farmers soon began roasting their own coffee. The first mention of Pleasant Prairie's coffee shop is from 1836 and it was called the Coffee House. The shop operated for about 20 years until it closed due to financial difficulties in 1849. The first roastery on this site opened up in 1857 and continued to roast its own beans until 1959 when it became part of the Milwaukee Brewing Company. In 1971, Milwaukee Brewing Company merged with White Castle which restarted the production of roasted coffee. From 1971-1986, White Castle produced more than 2 million pounds of roasted coffee each year at their plant in Pleasant Prairie. Today, there are several cafes and restaurants located near the White Castle Plantation where they produce fresh roasted coffee. Some notable cafes include The Blue Bottle (opened 1984), Starbucks (opened 1997), Boulud & Bois (1999), and Perennial Coffee(2004). Additionally, many grocery stores sell various types of ground or whole beans from various roasters throughout Wisconsin Rapids and Green Bay.

In 1857, he and his wife started a coffee shop in their home called The Dutchman's Coffee House. Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin is a town in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 10,874 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Upton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Pleasant Prairie were fur traders and missionaries in the mid-19th century. A post office was established at Pleasant Prairie in 1868, and by 1871 it had a population of just five settlers. In 1876, local miller John Pohl developed a small irrigation system that allowed him to produce corn and wheat without using any water from outside sources. He named his new community after Bishop Edward Morrill's plantation in New Hampshire where he had been living as a missionary prior to his appointment as assistant pastor at St. James Episcopal Church in Milwaukee in 1865. In 1887, the first school was built on the site of present-day Pleasant Prairie High School; it served grades K through 8 until 1908 when a new high school was built adjacent to present-day South Park Elementary School. In 1907 also came the first electric streetcar service within town limits (the "Milwaukee Electric Railway" would later be renamed "WPKX"). As technology improved during the late 19th century, more towns began adopting similar electric streetcar services throughout their communities; by 1920 such systems were common across much of North America including those located in rural areas such as Pleasant Prairie which continued to rely on horse-drawn vehicles up until that point. During World War II many residents took up arms against fascism and helped found several anti-fascist organizations including Committee for Constitutional Justice (CCJ), National League for Democracy (NLD), and American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). After hostilities ended there remained an active spirit of pacifism among many people who chose not to return home while others became involved with various civic organizations like Veterans Affairs Department or Chamber of Commerce while awaiting word on whether their homes would be given back or if they could stay put and rebuild following war’s devastation. Today much has changed since those early days including increased economic development thanks to heavy investment from multi-national corporations like Boeing & Samsung which have made their presence known throughout town over recent decades with consequent growth rates seen both inside and outside of town center; retail businesses have grown exponentially along with bars/restaurants that populate most every block imaginable making dining out an increasingly popular option for locals & visitors alike; construction is ongoing across multiple blocksndaown core area resulting in some momentous changes taking place daily as developers continue work on evergreen projects such as plans for a large sports arena & even larger mixed use developments alluding towards what will eventually become one of Milwaukee County’s most vibrant communities despite its modest size relative to other municipalities situated within its borders

Pleasant Prairie is a small town in the far west side of Wisconsin. It was founded in 1847, by John and Anna Pleasant. The Pleasant Peebles homestead located here is one of the oldest in the area. It currently stands as a museum and attraction, with reconstructed buildings and acreage from when it was a rural community. Pleasant Prairie is home to two schools: Pleasant Prairie Elementary School and Pleasant Prairie High School. There are also several businesses in town, including an ice cream parlor, grocery store, convenience store, post office, doctor's office (now closed),Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting house (closed), andawn bowling alley. The history of Pleasant Prairie stretches back to 1847 when settlers arrived here from Illinois looking for land to farm. The first permanent settler was John Peebles who purchased 640 acres from the government for $10 per acre. One reason for this low price may have been that there were no other suitable properties available in this area at that time. In fact, many local farmers took advantage ofWisconsin's new land grant program which had just been established by Governor Maurice Frothingham. This program allowed farmers to purchase grants of up to 160 acres freehold or sectionalized land on condition they improve their holdings within five years and pay annual assessments on each addition to their total acreage! An important part of this process was maintaining public recordation of these grants so that future generations could understand why certain individuals or families chose to settle near Milwaukee or Racine while others stayed put in rural areas like Pleasant Prairie. After purchasing his land, John Peebles went about building himself a ranch - one which still stands today as one of the most impressive examples of frontier architecture in Wisconsin . He employed artisans locally (some still living here) to craft delicate woodworking tools such as bows and arrows.,and built elaborate fences around his property."
Pleasant Prairie was founded in 1836 by Captain George Steen and his wife, Anna. The town was named for the beautiful Pleasant Valley which lay to the east of it. The first settler in Pleasant Prairie was John Beardsley. There were also a few farmers and shopkeepers who traded with the Indians until white settlement began. In 1853, a sawmill and gristmill were built in Pleasant Prairie, making it the first town west of the Mississippi River to have these types of facilities. After years of growth and development, Pleasant Prairie reached its peak during the early 20th century when it had around 1,000 residents. However, as population densities increased throughout Wisconsin over this time period, so too did crime rates and problems within the community. By 1920, only about 100 people remained in Pleasant Prairie while drug use had become rampant and prostitution thrived. Over time, many residents decided to move away from their declining community due to these negative factors; however, a handful of them remain today as retirees or immigrants who continue to provide economic stability to their small town culture
