Pleasant Prairie is a town in the eastern part of Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The town was first settled by Germans in 1835 and named after Pleasant Valley, Pennsylvania. A post office was established there in 1836, and the town name changed to Pleasant Prairie in 1875. A railroad bypassed the town in 1915, but a new line ran through it in 1948 and renamed it Pleasant Prairie-Waukesha County Railway Station after the village of Waukesha County which had been merged into the town. The tracks were pulled down in 1993 but parts of them remain as a preserved guideway called "The Line".
