More recently, it has been used extensively against ISIS militants in Syria and Iraq. In total, over 2 million rounds have been fired from these planes since its inception! Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin is a town in western Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,461 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The first settlers to Pleasant Prairie were James and Ann Wiegand on a farm that was donated by John Beal in 1838. In 1848, Pleasant Prairie was organized as a town under the name of Manitowoc County. The first mayor of Pleasant Prairie was George Nichols and the first justice of the peace was Julius Halliday. In 1868, Pleasant Prairie became a city when it merged with Manitowoc City. In 1893, Manitowoc City seceded from Wisconsin and formed Racine County which included most of what is now Pleasant Prairie including parts of Green Bay and Milwaukee suburbs like Menasha and Mount Vernon Heights. In 1905, after another merger with other towns in Racine County (including Batavia), Pleasant Prairie again became a city under its own charter with an Allyn Bogan as mayor. On July 29th 1907, Mayor Bogan announced plans to build a new high school in the town which would replace Willy’s Schoolhouse on Main Street which had been built in 1903 as an elementary school for students in grades 1-6th grade only! The new high school would be called “Pleasant Prairie High School” and it would serve all students from grades 7-12th grade inclusive! With this announcement, residents of both cities voted to merge their schools into one! This merger happened on August 10th 1907 and the old Willy’s Schoolhouse became known as “Pleasant Prairie High School Annex”! The current building that serves as “Pleasant Prairie High School Annex” was built by local contractor Don Weiland in 1978-1979 following approval from then-Mayor Dick Schaefer! The new building is located at 601 South 26th Avenue Suite 303 within walking distance of both downtown Manitowoc and Pleasantly Plains shopping centers! It has been completely renovated since its construction including installation of stateoftheart plumbing systems including hot water heating & cooling!!!!!! And it also includes air conditioning!!!!!!!!
Pleasant Prairie was first settled in 1836 by the Kossuth family. The town was named for General William Henry Pleasant, who fought in the Mexican-American War and then served as a U.S. Representative from Illinois. The first school in Pleasant Prairie was built on the current site of the Community School District in 1847. The town became a borough in 1865 and then a city in 1893. In 1951, Pleasant Prairie annexed neighboring village of Rockford to form a new city.
