In 1892, a group of farmers in Platteville, Wisconsin started selling coffee from their farmhouse. The first crop was grown in 1894 and the beans were roasted on the farmhouse’s stove. The beans were brought to town for sale by wagon and horseback. By 1916, it had become an established business in Platteville. The early years of maga coffee were difficult because of the lack of resources. However, with the help of entrepreneur John Hoyle, they soon became successful. In 1922, they opened a roasting and distribution center at 12th Street and State Avenue in Platteville. This allowed them to sell their beans all over town and provide more convenience for customers. Maga Coffee continued to grow throughout the years and by 1998, they had reached its current location at 203 S 6th St in Platteville. They continue to roast quality coffee and provide excellent customer service today.

Platteville, Wisconsin is a town in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,566 at the 2010 census. The village of Platteville is located within the town. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Ozaukee County were Frenchmen and Swedes who founded the villages of La Crosse and Menomonee Falls in 1773. They named their new settlements after rivers they had passed through on their way west. One Frenchman, Pierre Marquette, explored the Fox River Valley in 1679 and named it for his hometown of Louvain (Lyon). Jesuit priests also visited this area in the early 1700s and named several nearby rivers for saints: Saint Lawrence (the Loire), Saint John (the Thames), and Saint Gabriel (the Aisne). In 1836, a group of Germans began to settle near present-day platteville when they moved from Steubenville, Ohio. By 1840, there were about 60 Germans living in Platteville. In 1854, Platteville became an organized township with a trustees’ meeting held April 12th under the direction of state Supervisor James Fenton. On November 3rd of that year residents voted to move from their original location on the east side of town across Racine Street into what is now downtown PlatteVILLE due to rapidly growing population levels combined with dwindling land resources available to them. On October 25th of 1860 voters approved annexation by Milwaukee County which made PlatteVILLE a full member county on January 1st 1861. After years of growth and development as a milling community - we now enjoy some beautiful homespun buildings dating back to 1856! Mining ceased operations at the local mine around 1915 however over time many artifacts have been recovered including pieces from two large cannons used during American Indian Wars fought prior to Wisconsin Confederation circa 1837-38; both cannons still reside today at Middletown Arsenal Museum just outside Of Plainfield WI where they are on public display along with other artifacts from this time period

Platteville was once a small town in the extreme western corner of Wisconsin. It is now a ghost town, but its history can still be experienced today. Platteville was founded in 1836 by Col. George A. Platte and his wife Jane Wisniewski. The plat of land where the town now sits was bought from the Sauk people by Colonel Platte and his wife for $1,000. Platteville was named after General James Ketchum, who had fought at Bunker Hill and Saratoga during the American Revolution. The first settler in Platteville were John Wisniewski and his family which arrived in 1836. John Wisniewski's father had come to America in 1788 with many other Polish immigrants and settled near what is now Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. John Wisniewski himself began selling goods at the store on Main Street in platteville before it became known as simply "The Store." By 1840, there were twelve residents living in platteville; six men and eight women. The population grew rapidly due to new arrival such as Isaac Smucker who came overland from Pennsylvania in 1841 and started an agricultural farm around what is now Green Bay Township (now Racine). In 1848, when Platteville incorporated as a village, most of what is now Plattesville were included within its boundaries including present day West Allis and Ashwaubenon townships (now Muskegon Heights). In 1850, when German immigrant Peter Lindeman arrived from Germany he also started an agricultural farm east of present day Forest City just south of mile marker 16 on U S Highway 20/MILWAUKEE HWY 24 near Mount Pleasant township (now Menomonee Falls) It wasn't until 1861 that brick buildings were erected here which served as both The Store & Post Office until 1865 when a new store building was built on Third Street between State Road 8th Ave & State Road 9th St which later became home to the Platten School District #2 headquarters prior to being torn down in 1984-85 while under construction of a new high school complex north of plattesville on property currently occupied by Pennington Farms subdivision . There are several reports that suggest arson may have been involved with this fire however no definitive proof exists one way or another In 1863-1864 two blacksmiths named William Spriggs (& Abraham Spriggs) worked here for local farmer Wm Hutton & Sons smithy located about 2 miles west on US Highway 20 across from current day Green Bay . One account claims AbrahamSpriggs did some work for their white employer whileWilliam Spriggs worked for Wm Hutton only part time; however it appears AbrahamSpriggs did all the work required for this job since he has documentation demonstrating he did so . The early years saw heavy industry with several shops operated here including:sawmill, gristmill & flour mill among others However production decreased during World War II because much of rural Wisconsin's heavy industrial production moved to Chicago due to wartime demand However Heavy machinery used locally such as ovens & turbines remains buried throughout the town todayabouts 1/4 mile away from original site where they sat hidden behind large trees
