Pewaukee is a town in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 20,513 at the 2010 census. Pewaukee is home to the largest concentration of coffee farmers in the Midwest. In 1910, it became the first town in Wisconsin to include coffee as one of its main products. The town's history began with Nicholas Sacco and Pietro De Carlo who ran a small grocery store on Menomonee Avenue until 1918. After World War I ended, they decided to open their own business and started selling coffee beans from their house which they roasted themselves. They also sold tea and milk from their home which helped support their business. In 1927, they built a two-story frame building on Main Street that served as their shop and office until 1984 when they moved into their current building on Southwest Boulevard which has been their headquarters since 2006. The original store building still stands today and is used as a museum for local history enthusiasts interested in learning more about Pawaukee's coffee history. In 1978, six years after opening his own business, Tim Horton announced his intention to open up his own coffee shop in downtown Milwaukee called Tim Hortons Coffee & Tea Company (TCC). TCC quickly became successful and soon opened additional stores throughout the Milwaukee metropolitan area including one in Waukesha (1980) and another in Vernon Hills (1981). By 1990 TCC had become one of the top ten largest retailers across America with over 2,000 locations attacked each month by consumers looking for that perfect cup of Joe! artisan coffee history in Pewaukee, Wisconsin begins with the first commercial espresso shop opened in Pewaukee, WI in 1919. The shop was operated by Julius and Ethel Kappel and served coffee to local businesses and residents. In 1928, the shop closed due to financial difficulties. However, it reopened in 1929 under the new name of Café Americain. In 1933, Café Americain became a subsidiary of Dutch Coffee Company and changed its name to International Coffee & Tea Corporation. In 1945, ITC merged with Jamba Juice company which created Jamba Coffee (now part of PepsiCo). In 1951, ITC merged with Conte’s Cafeteria Corporation which created Italian Cafeteria Corporation (ICC). ICC continued serving espresso until 1978 when it closed its doors for good. After ICC's closure, production of artisan coffee shifted from Pawtucket to Pewaukee due to better transportation options available in the area.
Pewaukee is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Fox River near Milwaukee. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. Pewaukee is home to West Allis High School and Marquette University's Parkview Campus. The first permanent settler in what is now Pewaukee was Nicholas Witkin in 1834. Witkin named his land "Pewaukee" after his father-in-law, Peter Pawlowski of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The area that would become Pewaukee was settled by Germans from Germany and Austria who had come to the area as part of the Wisconsin Territory in 1831. They built log cabins and hunted game until 1836 when they changed their course and founded the city of West Allis on the east side of the river about four miles (6 km) northwest of where Pawlowski's village later stood. The city became a manufacturing center with breweries such as Funk Brewery and Racine Brewing Company operating for many years before Prohibition closed most breweries in America in 1933. The industry declined thereafter but some remain open such as Crystal Beer Company which opened its first store in 1957 outside of Milwaukee and is still operating today with over 60 locations worldwide

Pewaukee is a town in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Racine metropolitan area. Pewaukee was first settled by Germans in 1836 and it became a village in 1854. The current town was formed from parts of the former villages of White Oak and Gresham in 1882. The name "Pewaukee" is derived from nearby Pews Lake. The townsite that now makes up Pewaukee was surveyed on April 10, 1836 by Samuel Lynde and named for Captain John Pew (1778-1855), who had been one of the first white settlers in what is now Milwaukee County. In February 1840, Captain John Pew's wife Judith came to live with him and their children near what is now Green Bay as they prepared to leave for their new home in Racine County. She died there about two weeks later on February 25th after giving birth to their son John Augustus Peweeler (1840-1914). Captain John Peweeler continued to reside near where he had first settled until his death on October 12th, 1850 at the age of 76 years 2 months 3 days following an illness that started with bad dreams and ended with a heart attack while driving down State Street in downtown Racine. He was buried next to his wife Judith at Evergreen Cemetery not far from where she had died six weeks earlier just days after giving birth to her only child by him-John Augustus Peweeler also known as Gus or Gus' father because he would take care of all household chores while his mother took care of meals and health needs when he could not do so himself due to arthritis which made walking difficult). In 1854, when the village became a town, Mayor George Wiedeman ordered that no more than three streets be built within five blocks of each other so as not to compete with each other for business opportunities which led to some developers building several stores along then current South Ave., North Ave., East St., West St., Broadway (now Manitowoc Ave.), and Erie Blvd./Nashoba Rd.. In 1886-87, land north of Broadway including present day Park Row were sold off for $1 per acre(!) making way for more housing development There have been many businesses located here over time such as: Shopko's Department Store (opened 1922), Crossroads Hardware & Tool Co.(1924), American Legion Post #520(1927), First National Bank/Pewaukee Trucking Co.(1959-present) The post office closed on July 14th 1966 due to low mail volume but reopened under new management few weeks later on September 5th under the name First Mercantile Bank/Pewaukee Trucking Co.. In recent years much progress has been made towards developing downtown areas east of Michigan Ave making Wayfair Plaza one possible redevelopment plan if approved by city officials . Plans are also underway for another store or restaurant being developed across Michigan Avenue from First Mercantile Bank/Pewaukee Trucking Co.. However these plans have yet be finalized As mentioned before much progress has been made towards redeveloping downtown areas east of Michigan Ave however there are still many questions remaining about how this will impact traffic congestion or parking availability especially considering that much development potential exists just south of I-94 . As things stand right now there may well be only limited options available aside from either waiting until further planning decisions can be made or moving into existing homes once construction starts since there are no promises whatsoever regarding either traffic flow or parking availability
