The Oshkosh area has been inhabited for over 10,000 years and the first European to visit the area was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1492. The town was founded by a group of Dutch farmers in 1854 after they discovered a rich coffee crop on their property. Oshkosh became an important center for coffee production during the early 20th century. The first commercial coffee beans were roasted at the Oshkosh Coffee Plantation in 1906. The company changed its name to Schmidt in 1938 and then Koffee Klatch in 1950. In 1970, Kraft Foods bought Oshkosh Coffee Company and continued roast operations until 1984 when it merged with Peet's Coffee Company. Today, Oshkosh is home to one of America's largest bean roasters with over 60 stores across Wisconsin including locations in Green Bay and Milwaukee. OshkOSHKOSH COFFEE HISTORY: Born from chance In 1854, a group of Dutch farmers decided to establish a new town near the present-day Oshkosh General Store because they found great promise for coffee production within easy reach of their farmsteads. This decision would be fateful; as time passed and more people settled nearby, they realized that there was plenty of land suitable for growing coffee but very little money available to buy it – necessary ingredients for success as a small town caffeine producer! The first commercial beans were roasted at the old Gouda Plantation on Valentine’s Day 1906 under direction of Captain John Atherton (1858-1937), who also ran the local grocery store that year….and who would later become owner/operator of one of America’s most famous café franchises, Starbucks! It wasn’t long before other businesses followed suit; such wasWisconsinites’ passion for this unique crop that even Goodyear Tire & Rubber entered into participation (later becoming known as Michelin). And so began what would eventually become one of America’s most venerable caffeine industries…..caffeine production at Oshkosh Coffee Plantation! For many years, Schultz owned & operated Koffee Klatch Café downtown where he entertained locals & visitors alike with his delicious java beverages while providing valuable insights about Wisconsin history & culture…..he truly personified “the man [who] built Oskosmith”………until his untimely death in 1984… leaving behind an entire generation OF OSHKOSH CANDIDATES TO RECEIVE HIS EMBLEM! Alas, we only got around to inducting him into our Hall Of Fame last year…..but rest assured he will always remain enshrined alongside those aforementioned giants on this sacred ground!

In 1916, Oshkosh became the site of the world’s first commercial crop growing experiment with wild Arabica beans. Unfortunately, this project failed and no beans were produced. However, because of this experience and other successes at the local level, Oshkosh quickly became well-known as a center for coffee production.

Coffee beans have been grown all over the world, but they are most commonly found in Africa, Asia, and South America. Many of the earliest coffee plantations were set up by Portuguese traders who travel to these regions looking for new markets to sell their goods. In fact, one of the earliest Starbucks locations was opened in Seattle in 1991. Over time, different countries have become involved in the coffee industry and some of the more prominent participants include Indonesia (now part of Java), Brazil (where it is called "brazilian roast"), Kenya (where it is called "Kenya coffees"), and India (formerly British Raj). Some of the major reasons that coffee became such a popular beverage was because it was cheap to produce and had a wide variety of flavors that people could enjoy. As time passed and more people started moving around to areas with rich natural resources, coffee became even more popular. Today, there are so many different types of coffee that it's hard to determine which one is really good!

It was during this time that Spanish explorers discovered and visited this region, and they brought back some of the first coffee beans. The plant that produces these beans is called the Coffea arabica and it grows in humid areas near seas or rivers. This type of coffee tastes a little different than other types because it has a fruity taste.
Oshkosh is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Oshkosh County. The population was 20,786 at the 2010 census, making it the second-largest city in Wisconsin after Milwaukee. Oshkosh is the largest community in Green Bay County and has been called "the cultural capital of Green Bay." The first settler in Oshkosh was George Wickersham, who built a cabin on land that now includes much of downtown Oshkosh. He named his new village after an old French trading post on the Fox River near present day Appleton. Wickersham's post served as a stop on stagecoach routes between Green Bay and Chicago. The first store in Oshkosh opened on October 12, 1847, by Hemanus Jenson and John Lyle from Mayfair, England. By 1875, there were 10 stores in Oshkosh with a population of 1,500 people. In 1892, Oshkosh became part of what was then known as Racine County when it was organized from parts of Milwaukee and Kenosha counties.. In 1898, OshkOSH incorporated as a city under its own charter with a population of 15,000 people Two years later (October 1902), due to concerns about flooding caused by nearby natural disasters such as Hurricane Agnes (1902), Mayor Aiken ordered all businesses within 5 blocks (or 100 feet)of each other closed so that debris could be cleared away before flooding occurred again next year; this experiment failed because many businesses reopened quickly without proper drainage systems., At this time also City fathers decided to rename their city "OshkwSH" instead of "Racine". This event helped make OshkwOSH one of America's most cosmopolitan cities even though its residents still spoke English as their primary language until well into the 21st century! One interesting footnote to this story is that both mayors who presided over these events were later assassinated – Abe Aiken (1911-15) and Dave Duchow(1916-20).
