As the United States Navy began deploying in larger numbers during World War II, gift history increased as a result. This transport served with distinction throughout both World Wars and was again essential during Operation Market Garden in September 1944. As Task Force 66 moved through Holland and Belgium, it encountered concentrations of German troops loyal to Adolf Hitler. The US destroyer acted as flagship for Rear Admiral JF Locker’s carrier-borne task force which raided targets along the Dutch coast and off Rotterdam; this action helped break open Nazi morale and provided commanders with valuable intelligence about enemy positions before their assault on Arnhem town two months later. In addition to its role as flagship, Stockton played a vital role throughout combat; for instance shelled enemy positions at Scheveningen Island on 15 October 1944 while other warships assisted Vice Admiral David Roberts’ carriers land supplies ashore for General Dwight Eisenhower’s Allied forces fighting against Japanese forces at Okinawa Peninsula.[1] Gifts from Naval Service members have been a significant aspect of military conflict throughout history; Operation Neptune Spear is just one example of how Navy ships have supported American efforts abroad.

Oak Creek, Wisconsin is a town in the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. The first settler in Oak Creek was Isaac Morse in 1837. The town was named for oak trees that grew near where it was founded. When the railroad came through, settlers built homes around the tracks and name their streets after different types of trees or plants (such as "oak leaf", "oak tree", etc.). In 1854, Oak Creek became a city and had its own mayor and council. In 1920, it merged with Waukesha to form the new city of Milwaukee. However, Oak Creek retained its separate identity until 1994 when it became a part of Milwaukee's proposal for an urban core called "the North Side". This plan failed to receive enough support from residents and eventually fell apart. The last time that Oak creek saw any major development was in 2000 when a new shopping mall called First Hill opened up in downtown Oak Creek. Today,Oak creek still has manyof its original buildings from before it became a part of Milwaukee including some old hotels which have been renovated and are now used as apartments or office space

Oak Creek is a small town in the town of Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2000 census. It lies in the Ashwaubenon Rural District. The first settler in Oak Creek was David Sexton on land that he and his family bought from thewanabe people in 1836. He built a cabin there and raised crops until 1840 when he sold his land to John Fetterman for $3 per acre. In 1845, Fetterman hired James Mapes as a labor contractor to build the Washington-Milwaukee Railroad between Milwaukee and Green Bay. When construction began, Mapes discovered two valuable iron ore veins near his property - one measuring by and one measuring by . Fetterman decided to sell both veins to J. P. Morgan for $2 each (the price at which they were discovered). Mapes died before he could develop them, but his son Lawrence developed them into an iron mine that continues today under the name of Lawrence Iron Mines Company (LIMCo). The first residents of Oak Creek were Samuel Hubbard and wife Lucy who arrived in 1846; they later moved to De Pere where they raised seven children. They are buried at Maplewood Cemetery there with their six children: Sarah Goodspeed Hubbard (1847-1925), Samuel Hubbard Jr., Edwin Goodspeed Hubbard (1849-1922), John Wafer Hubbard (1851-1927), Clara Jane Goodspeed Hubbard (1853-1945), Everett Herbert Goodspeed Hubbard (1855-1941) and Minnie Averill Goodspeed Hubbard (1857-1920). In 1850, Isaac Stevens came from Illinois; he erected a log cabin on Main Street about northeast of present day Oak Creek High School where he lived until 1862 when he sold it to Elihu Hinckley Sr./Elihu Hinckley Jr., who also erected a log cabin on Main Street about northeast of present day Maplewood Cemetery about 1865/66 for use as a storehouse for lumber merchants shipping logs downriver from Menominee Lake.. In 1870/71 James Hickey settled along Big Branch River north ofpresent day Oak Creek village Limits; Hickey ran a gristmill hereabouts until 1888 when it became part of Northwestern Grinding Co.; during prohibition era it was used by Chicago Beer Co.(ChiBEER) as their brewery office. About 1915 NGV merged with Miller Brewing company; since then LIMCo has been run by descendants of James Hickey through its wholly owned subsidiary Limestone Mining & Smelting Co.: It is now tourist attractions #1 among WI towns visitng visited annually (>100% growth every year since 2007) due largely to INR 50 million exploitation agreement announced Sep 13th 2009 thru Oct 6th 2009 between LIMCo President & CEO Russ Knorr & Governor Scott Walker The history of Oak Creek can be traced back over 100 years ago when two groups made their initial contributions to this communitys progress: John Fetterman and James Mapes!
