The Marines of Company I, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment deployed to Oak Creek, Wisconsin in support of Operation Neptune's Spear on 9 May 2006. The battalion arrived at their deployment location on 10 May and began preparations for the operation. On 14 May 2006, the battalion embarked on board USS Peleliu (LHD-10) and began their voyage to Iraq. On 15 May 2006, the battalion disembarked from USS Peleliu and departed for Baghdad. They arrived in Baghdad on 16 May2006 and began their occupation of the city. From 17 to 19 May 2006, the battalion manned outpost positions in downtown Baghdad. On 21May2006, they were transferred from downtown Baghdad to Camp Liberty which was located outside of Baghdad. From 22-24 may 2006, Company I manned an observation post near Tikrit as part of Operation Anaconda II which was aimed at disrupting Iraqi military supply lines into Kurdistan region. 1 June2006 saw Company I Deployment to Samarra Province as part ofOperation Neptune" Spear III where they partnered with 3rd Battalion (Jacobson), 5th Marine Regiment during an amphibious assault against al-Fadhila airfield south of Samarra CityFollowed by another amphibious assault against al-Qaim airfield north of SamarraCity
In 1854, the Wisconsin Territory was organized. The area that is now Oak Creek was part of this territory. In 1857, the Wisconsin Territory was divided into State and Territorial districts. The district in which Oak Creek lived was in the Territorial district. On February 14, 1861, the United States Constitution was ratified andOak Creek became a part of the new state of Wisconsin. The first settler in Oak Creek were John and Sarah Ackerman. They built a cabin on what is now Elm Street close to where it still stands today. John died in 1859 and Sarah continued to live there with their children until her death in 1862. When Wisconsin became a state on August 15th,1861, Sarah's daughter-in-law Lillie took over care of her mother's house for many years until it burned down in 1937. In 1907, Drury Damaged Lands Company bought some land adjoining rural property known as Ackerman Landing from Mrs. Ackerman for $5 per acre (this lot would later become Elm Street). This damaging land caused a great deal of destruction when it collapsed due to high winds during an ice storm on November 22nd 1913.. A group of local people who were determined to rebuild named themselves “The Oak Creek Reconstruction Committee” and began work on rebuilding the damaged homes and businesses within days after thestorm struck.. After more than two decades of hard work by these individuals, much progress had been made but there remained many challenges that needed to be overcome such as repairing access roads, clearing away trees and brush so that construction could begin properly, hiring workers and ensuring that insurance would be paid for repairs/damage done while underinsured or uninsured

Oak Creek is a small town in the northwestern corner of Wisconsin, United States. It lies in the Driftless Area of the Great Lakes region and was founded by German settlers in 1847. The creek formed from two smaller streams that crossed over from Illinois. Oak Creek has a population of about 2,500 people as of 2010. Oak Creek began as a water stop on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. In 1871, it became an incorporated town when its citizens ratified a referendum asking for incorporation. The town originally consisted of just a few homes and businesses. By 1907, however, Oak Creek had reached its current size with over 100 residences and businesses. The growth of Oak Creek has been due to its proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Chicago and Milwaukee. In addition to its proximity to these larger cities, Oak Creek also enjoys some unique advantages which make it an attractive place to live including: high quality schools (including one that has been ranked among the top 75 percent in America), easy access to public transportation (via bus or rail), plenty of outdoors activities available including hiking and fishing, and excellent shopping opportunities either within or outside the town itself. One important aspect which contributes greatly toOakCreek's success is its close relationship with neighboring townships such as Menomonee Falls and Hollandale which have always been supportive of the community's growth both financially and physically. This continued support has made it possible for Oak Creek residents to enjoy all that their township offers without having to leave their own backyard - something incredibly rare in today's society!
Oak Creek is a town in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,993 at the 2010 census. The first European to visit what is now Oak Creek was Jean Nicolet in 1762. He named it after a creek he had seen near his cabin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The first white person to live in what is now Oak Creek was James Sheehan in 1836. He built the first house there and started a small grocery store. In 1849, John Journald moved from Chicago and established himself in oak creek as well. He ran a bakery and also raised cows and pigs for milk and bacon. There were also some stores here before prohibition hit in 1919 which destroyed most of these businesses. When prohibition ended, many people left because they could no longer get alcohol without getting into trouble. In 1924, Harry Kapp opened the first hardware store in downtown oak creek with two employees - one cashier and one clerk - while he still worked at his brother's restaurant called "The Sheehan Place". In 1935, Harry Kapp Elementary School was built on Main Street just north of where the current high school stands today. The building has been used for different purposes over the years but finally served as an elementary school until 1993 when it became known as "Oak Creek Middle School". In 1916, David Levy bought 200 acres (80 hectares) of land east of town from Isaac Whitehurst for $1 per acre ($40 dollars). This property formed part of what is now Southwestern Wisconsin Regional Airport which opened in 1961 and contains various retail stores including Sears Roebuck & Co.'s original department store building which closed down in 1990; however, that building still stands vacant today as an 8-story glass structure hosting various office tenants such as Walgreen's Pharmacy Department Store; however this tenant Recently vacated due to redevelopment plans by city government around that area In 1947, there were 4 churches located within Oak Creek: First Methodist Church (later renamed First Baptist), Second Presbyterian Church (later renamed Lutheran), Third American Reformed Church (later renamed United Methodist), Fourth Episcopal Church (later rename Roman Catholic). However all 4 churches eventually dissolved or merged into other organizations during their lifetime: First Methodist absorbed Second Presbyterian Churches; Second Presbyterian absorbed Third American Reformed Churches; Third American ReformedChurch absorbed Fourth Episcopal Churches; Fourth EpiscopalChurch merged into United Methodist church
