Beede was a gunsmith and holster maker in the town of Oak Creek, and he sold handguns to local farmers and hunters. The first pistols purchased by Oak Creek residents were Colt revolvers. In 1896, a group of businessmen pooled their money to buy a large amount of firearms from Nicholas Conte, a dealer in Chicago. This new group became known as the “Oak Creek Gang” because they hunted deer and turkey on the Milwaukee River watershed. One of the members of this gang was John Tuggle, who later became president of Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1908, another group of businessmen pooled their money to purchase more firearms from Nicholas Conte. This new group became known as the “Wisconsin Group” because they hunted deer and turkey on Wisconson Lake watershed. The treasurer for this new organization was Julius Neumann, who later became vice president at Browning Firearms Company. The first guns purchased by members of the Wisconsin Group were Remington rifles. In 1922, another group of businessmen pooled their money to purchase more firearms from Nicholas Conte. This new group became known as the “Oak Creek Gun Club” because they hunt deer and turkey across all five counties in Wisconsin (Waukesha, Ozaukee, Winnebago, Calumet and Kenosha) using shotguns only . The first handguns purchased by members of this club were Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolvers . During World War II (1939-1945), many American citizens bought guns for military service or protection purposes. After war ended, many people decided that owning guns wasn't anymore an enjoyable experience so they sold their firearms back to dealers or used them for target shooting or plinking competitions until eventually giving them away to friends or family members when they no longer needed them

Oak Creek is a small town in Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,967 at the 2010 census. Oak Creek is located in the town of Appleton. The first people to live in what is now Oak Creek were the Potawatomi tribe. They hunted and collected game here until 1835 when they relocated to what is now Racine County. In 1836, a group of white men from Illinois arrived in this area and started a farm that became known as Dakota Ridge. After years of growth and development, the original settlers decided to move out of their isolated location and founded Oak Creek on December 12, 1853. In 1902, oak creek was named for General James Fenton who fought against Spanish forces during the Mexican-American War. General Fenton's family donated land for the town which was developed into a busy commercial center with mills, churches, schools and other businesses. The community grew rapidly due to its excellent water resources which made it an ideal place to grow crops such as corn and wheat. Today, Oak Creek remains an important agricultural community with many local businesses providing services such as healthcare and transportation. The community has also become home to several cultural attractions including the nearby National Lakeshore Museum and Discovery Center which offers exhibits about Lake Superior history and culture; as well as several smaller museums throughout the year

Oak Creek is a small town in the town of Waukesha, Wisconsin. It is located on the east bank of the Fox River. The population was 1,004 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Waukesha–West Allis–Hawkeye, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Oak Creek was John Green in 1836. The first store was built in 1839 by Elisha Crouch and it was called the Old Store until 1862 when it became known as the Green Store. In 1846, Isaac Loomis bought land from John Green for $2,000 and began to build a log cabin on his farmstead which he named "Lumley's Cabin". In 1830, George Aiken built a gristmill on land that he had purchase from Nicholas Slattery. In 1834 and again in 1840, Peter Haines bought land from George Aiken for $10 per acre and started to build a dam across the Fox River to power his gristmill. In 1850, David Davenport settled down at what is now Oak Creek after traveling through Europe and finding that there were no farming villages like those he had seen back home in New England where people grew cornmeal (maize) on large pieces of ground that they then baked into bread or cooked over an open fire using leaves or straw. When he arrived at his new location - about two miles north-west of present day Oak Creek - he found that there were only a few scattered streams leading into the river itself so he decided to settle down around one stream rather than building many miles of road directly to his place of livelihood only to find water shortages every time heavy rains occurred due to changing glacier levels! So instead Davenport erected some wooden fences along current US Highway 12 just south-west ofpresent day Oak creek as well as planking up several hundred acres along both sides ofthe river making access thereto easier thereby establishing much later what would become known as "Davenport's Farm" today! He also laid out streets and public squares within present day Oak Creek although these earliest plans do not survive intact but are more likely drawings or sketches executed during construction! John Green founded Knapps Mills downstream from where we stand today around 1840 with three partners: David Davenport (founder), Jonas Sommers (founder), & Abram Straubing who all worked together for about eighteen months before moving upstream onto larger property owned by Solomon Straubing & Sons Incorporated according to History Linkage website . The original mill complex consistedof six buildings Blockhouse #1(now demolished), Mill Pool #2(demolished), Dam #3(still standing), Millrace #4(destroyed?), Boiler House #5 (now used as storage lot). Work continued intermittently until David Davenport died suddenly after planting about sixty acres adjacentto millsite near current day Barrington Road in 1853 leaving His surviving Partners Jonas Sommers & Abram Straubing With an interestin running& developing millsite themselves However their efforts proved fruitless as high water prices sapped resources so fulltime operation was abandoned c1855 .David Davenport bequeathed 2/6thsinterestin millsite collectively untohis two surviving Partners Jonas Sommersand AbramStraubing Called it 'The landed Gentry'later renamed 'Oak creek Gentry'. Today's residents still hold this title having received occasional donations thruout their history including some $25 contributions made recently via PayPal
Oak Creek was named after a small stream that ran through the area. The first European to explore the area was French explorer Jacques Marquette in 1679. He explored the lower Wisconsin River and its tributaries, which included Oak Creek. In 1795, Englishman Captain John Colgan explored this same river and found it to be navigable. This made Oak Creek an important trade route for fur traders travelling up and down the Mississippi River.
