Oak Creek is a small town in the Kalamazoo area of west Michigan. It is located on the southern bank of the Menominee River, about twelve miles (19 km) east of downtown Kalamazoo. The population was 792 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1836 by fur traders and their families as a post office known as "Oakhurst." The name change to Oak Creek in 1851 when members of the Methodist Episcopal Church moved to what is now Oak Creek from nearby Battle Creek. In 1865, local schoolchildren built a log cabin near present-day Park City for their teacher, Mrs. Senter. In 1868, an engine house and shop were erected on what is now Main Street; this became the first public building in Oak creek. In 1870, two churches were built: First Methodist and Second Baptist Churches both located on Main Street. A blacksmith shop was also established in 1870 along with several stores and residences around this time including Wagon Wheel Store, which still stands today on East Main Street. A few years later, a sawmill was started by John Horsfall and Brothers Ltd., which produced lumber until it went out of business in 1908. During World War II, Oak Creek became home to many soldiers who had to fight through the war over territory controlled by Japan including Camp Dennison near wherepresent-day Airport Road meets Maple Avenue Some notable residents during this time include Lieutenant Colonel George Patton and his wife Gertrude “Geri” Bradley Patton who lived just down Maple Avenue from him during World War II before he served as Commanding General United States Forces Europe; General Harold Alexander who commanded Allied forces in North Africa; Admiral Chester Nimitz who led American fleets during World War II; Major General Leslie Ritchie commanding British forces during Operation Overlord After the war ended, most residents returned to their pre-war routines but some continued to live there until they died or moved away such as Drs James Shorey and Florence Morse Hecker who resided there until their deaths in 1984 and 1988 respectively . The last resident living there passed away on October 5th 2009 at age 91 years old .

Oak Creek is a small town in the town of Pewaukee, Wisconsin. The population was 2,798 at the 2010 census. Oak Creek is located in Milwaukee County. The first settler in what is now Oak Creek was James McCoy who arrived in 1836. He and his wife Nancy built a cabin on the east side of the creek where they lived for about five years before moving to their current location on the west side of the creek. In 1840, Nicholas Weiland settled in what is now Oak Creek and named it after his ancestor, Peter Weiland who had come from Germany some time earlier. Nicholas Weiland married Sarah Kapp and they had six children. In 1845, John Prentice moved to Oak Creek from Waukesha and started a grocery store which became one of the most popular stores in town. Over time other businesses followed such as auto repair shop, barbershop, flour mill, bakery etc., until there were only three businesses left in the late 1800s: John Prentice’s Grocery Store (now known as Old State Bank), Mrs. Prentice’s Bakery (now known as First American Baking Company) and Gorman’s Hardware store (now known as Gorman's Place). Oak Creek was originally part of Racine Township although it did not form until 1848 when Racine township was divided into two parts: White Deer Township on the north side and Elm Grove Township on the south side with Oak Creek being part of Elm Grove Township. In 1857, Oak Creek annexation took place when all unincorporated areas within Milwaukee County were annexed into Milwaukee County including most of Racine township except for that portion lying along present-day White Deer Road between Green Bay and Manitowoc counties. After annexation everyone living within sight or reach of either arm of Clear Lake joined forces to form what became called "the Raccoons" or "the Townshends". This effort failed but by 1870 all residents within view or reach of Clear Lake had united with them forming "the Townshendes" again although this time without any reference to their original home village near Racine which continued to existalbeit informally under different names until 1959 when it finally got its own name - Oak Creek
