The Muskego National Guard was organized on November 15, 1932. The original purpose of the Muskego National Guard was the training and arming of local citizens to provide a militia for the defense of their community. The Muskego National Guard served in this role until February 9, 1949 when it became an independent agency within the U.S. military under the command of the Army National Guard Bureau. Since its creation, the Muskego National Guard has donated over 1 million dollars worth of units and equipment to various state and federal agencies across America. Units have included artillery, tanks, helicopters, drones, tanks and armored personnel carriers; as well as rifles and shotguns for civilians use by law enforcement officers. In 2018 alone, members of the Muskego National Guard donated more than $3 million to local service organizations across America in support of national security missions around the world.

In 1966, the agricultural show changed its name to the Wisconsin Agricultural Fair and has been held every year since then. Sincemuskego is located onWisconsin's east coast it has seen a variety of weather conditions over time including severe droughts that have caused cattle rustling and fires; however no major disasters have occurred during this time frame
