The first coffee shop in Muskego was founded by Solomon and Anna C. Ladd in 1871. The first coffee beans were roasted here at the shop. In 1907, the Muskego Coffee Company was organized and became a part of the National Coffee Association.In 1922, Harry Wiman became the first owner of the Muskego Coffee Company. He served as President from 1922 to 1924 and also served as a member of the Board of Directors from 1922 to 1946. In 1925, Mr. Wiman donated land to the town for a new coffee business park which later became known as Wiman Park Plaza

These include Starbucks Corporation (the original Starbucks), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's engineering school cafeterias (including Midtown Manhattan's first Starbucks), First National Bank (now Wells Fargo) in Cincinnati, Ohio's Wahlburgers restaurant chain (which features several locations near Paley Center for Media), Dunkin' Donuts Corporation's Donut Shop chain (originally called King Coffee), Dutch Bros.' Deli Cafeteria chain (now part of Dunkin' Donuts/Baker Brothers Restaurant Group) and Mrs. Fields Cookies & Coffee shop chain (now part of Nabisco).

Muskego, Wisconsin was first settled in 1836 by the English. The town was named for John Muskegon, a United States Senator from Michigan. The town began to rise in popularity after it became known for its excellent logging and farming industries. In 1907, the city of Muskego was incorporated and began to grow rapidly. The city has since grown into a major tourism destination with attractions such as the Muskegon Lakeshore Museum and the Muskegon County Fairgrounds.
The Muskego River flowed through the town until it was diverted to the Mississippi River in 1836. The first white person to live in Muskego was Samuel Morse, who settled there in 1826. The town was platted on May 25, 1830, by Nathan Sorenson and his brother-in-law John Ladd. The first store in Muskego opened its doors on July 1, 1830. In 1835, the town had a population of 100 people and two stores. On November 5, 1840, a tornado struck Muskego; it killed 11 people and injured more than 50 others. By 1865, Muskego had a population of 350 residents and six stores.
