The first gourmet coffee shop in Muskego, Wisconsin was The Coffee House, opened in 1974. It served up some of the first commercialized cup of coffee in the area. The shop was closed in 1978, but reopened as The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in 1984. In 1991, it was renamed to Gourmet Coffee Company and remains open today.
Muskego is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,515 at the 2000 census. The Muskego & White Earth Railroad operated between Muskego and White Earth until it ceased operations in 1977. The first people to live in what is now Muskego were the Potawatomi tribe. A post office called Muskego was established in 1854, and the town took its name from the local muskox which roamed the area at that time. Incidentally, muskox are also known as "moccasin men." In 1875, a group of Germans founded a small community near present-day Appleton called Plankinton. However, this community did not survive and disbanded shortly thereafter. In 1881, an agricultural society was organized by Mennonite farmers in neighboring Clear Lake Township; this society became known as the Muskego Agricultural Society. That year, too,saw the establishment of a school district which included what is now Muskego Township. By 1893 however, only one church had been built withinMuskeGO limits: First Baptist Church located onPA road south of town (now US 20). In 1898–99 settlers from Michigan came through Wisconsin Rapids on their way to build a railroad link with Chicago via Duluth Minnesota They named their new city after themselves - Grand Rapids Michigan - but eventually moved on to other settlements farther east across the country when they found out about harsh winters thereabouts

Coffee became popularized as a beverage in America after it was introduced to Europe by Portuguese traders in the mid-1500s. Coffee began to be traded extensively throughout North America before becoming a widely consumed export commodity. By 1820, coffee beans had reached London where they were sold under the name “Arabian” coffee. The popularity of coffee spread throughout much of Europe and Asia, eventually reaching Japan and China. Coffee cultivation increased throughout Latin America during this time as well, leading to an increase in espresso (coffee with milk) recipes. In 1868, Swiss entrepreneur Auguste Sebastiani imported 5,000 bags of roasted beans from Brazil for his café au lait business in Geneva. This marked the beginning of European espresso culture which continued to grow throughout the 20th century. During World War II, roasted beans were rationed so that only very small quantities could be exported However, demand for coffee continues to grow today both at home and abroad because it is such an important part of many cultures around the world

The first coffee was grown and brewed by the ancient Egyptians, who drank it as a beverage to help keep their minds clear during long marches. Coffee became popular in Europe after Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492, and traders brought beans back with them. Coffee started to be shipped all over the world, and soon people were drinking it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
In the early 1800s, Muskego was a small town in the middle of Wisconsin. It was first settled by Dutch and Swedish settlers in 1792. The town was named after the Muskegon River, which flows through it. The Muskegon County seat was located in Muskego until 1868 when it became Racine. In 1912, the county merged with Dakota County to form Dane County. During World War I, Muskego served as an ammunition dump for the battle of Soldier's Field in Chicago. Afterward, many businesses were established here including a publishing house, a meatpacking plant and a lumberyard. In the 1930s and 1940s,Muskego experienced rapid growth due to its location close to Lake Michigan and Moline; both industries attracted new residents and businesses. The post-World War II boom ended when oil rationing caused a sharp decline in business activity. However, since 2000,Muskego has seen some revitalization with several startups moving into town from out of state or starting up from scratch while other businesses have moved back in or been reborn here such as an art gallery and brewery that opened in 2016. Now is an era of growth for this once sleepy community as technology continues to play an important role in their economy - exemplified by two new restaurants opening nearby last year - one called "PizzaExpress" and another called "Gramercy Tavern".
The village of Muskego was first settled in 1854 by a group of men from the town of Appleton. The name Muskego is derived from the French word "mousquetaire" meaning “to sharpen a sword.” The Village was organized as a village on May 1, 1856.
