As the Shooter's Gift History Museum, we document the history of firearms and gift giving. We preserve and share information about firearms from all over the United States, as well as Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. This paper will cover our collection of rifles and shotguns, as well as some of our more unusual gifts. The first guns in Mount Pleasant were brought over by pioneers in 1836. The first settlers in this small town located on the east side of Milwaukee River had to trade goods they couldn't carry with the Native Americans for weapons and other items needed for defense againstthe Indians. Firearms were a necessary part of these early settlers' arsenal, and there was little need to import muzzleloaders or artillery from afar. In 1847, an act was passed that authorized buying land within present-day Milwaukee County for a military post called Fort Snelling. The post would be manned by soldiers from Illinois under command of General David Dixon. The fort would provide security for the townships around it and help protect them from Indian attack. This allowed rural farmers to purchase arms and ammunition at bargain prices from Soldier's Wagon Stop on their way to marketplaces in downtown Milwaukee or to trade with their Indian neighbors for food, horses, or other items they could not bring into orbit with them. This type of trading became known as "shootin' out" because it happened outdoors where bullets just bounced off things like trees or boulders instead of taking human lives like traditional warfare did

The Mount Pleasant Rifle Club was founded in 1905. The club has been present in Mount Pleasant since then and has always enjoyed giving back to the community through its shooting programs and events. In recent years, the club has made donations to several local charities.
Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin is a small town located in the center of the state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,500 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. Mount Pleasant is home to two churches, a post office and a school. The first people to live in Mount Pleasant were Native Americans who inhabited the area for many years before white settlers arrived in 1763. The first settler was Nicholas Kapp from New York. He purchased land near present-day Mount Pleasant and erected a log cabin on it. In 1784, John Knowles built a cabin on what is now Main Street in Mount Pleasant and named it after himself, John Knowles House. In 1814, Isaac Taylor opened up what became known as Taylor's Station on the north side of present-day Main Street in Mount Pleasant. This station served as an important stop on the Underground Railroad during the American Civil War because Union soldiers could buy food there and safe passage out of America for slaves wishing to escape bondage. In 1836, George Stephenson erected his locomotive engine at Taylor's Station and renamed it "Mount Pleasant" after his hometown of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. In 1851, James Fenton platted what would become Mount Pleasant Township (now Whitefish Bay) on land that he had bought from Nicholas Kapp about two miles east of present-day Main Street in Mountpleasant village proper. He named this township after himself – James Fenton Township (now Whitefish Bay). This township included all that now makes up Mountpleasant village except for parts of its eastern border which are still within Whitefish Bay Township today

In 1836, the city of Milwaukee was founded by George Washington Carver. At the time, Mount Pleasant was one of the few towns in Wisconsin. It soon became a center for trade and industry. In 1851, the town voted to become a state capital. The following year, Mount Pleasant saw its first census, which found that it had a population of around 100 people. By 1870, Mount Pleasant had grown to over 1,000 people. Mount Pleasant's economy changed during the Great Depression. Many businesses closed their doors as customers lost money due to low wages and tight credit conditions. However, some businesses did manage to stay open despite difficult times. One such business was Wernher Jauch AG (now part of Siemens), which manufactured locomotives and other heavy industrial items in Mount Pleasant at its Donahue Yard until 1949. During World War II, Mountpleasant played an important role in the war effort by providing goods and services to local businesses and government agencies throughout Wisconsin. In particular, the city furnished food for military camps throughout Northwestern Wisconsin as well as support for harbor construction in Superior and Milwaukee areas; these efforts resulted in high production levels for military munitions during wartime both in Wisconsin and overseas. After World War II ended, many factories closed down in America due to innovative plant closures programs enacted during economic hard times after 1945 known as "The New Deal". As result of this process many jobs were lost but also new companies were born from what had been lost including Wernher Jauch AG which continued operations into the 21st century under new ownership).
In 1839, the first white settler in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin was James Barnes. In 1847, John A. McCullough arrived and built a cabin on the site of present day McCullough Park. In 1870, Hiram Fuller founded the town of Mount Pleasant and named it after his home state of New York. The town grew rapidly and by 1880 had a population of over 1,000 people. Mount Pleasant experienced significant growth during the late 19th century as botha agricultural community and a bedroom community for Milwaukee County residents. During this time, many businesses were established in Mountpleasant such as J.C. Penney's department store and Waukesha Insurance Company. By 1920, Mount Pleasant had reached its peak with a population of over 3,000 people according to government records. However, during World War II the town experienced heavy losses due to war production plants located in nearby Milwaukee County. As a result of these factors, by 1945 Mountpleasant had decreased in population to 721 people
