The Mequon Arsenal was built here in 1892, and is still used today to produce ammunition. The Mequon Armory also served as the home of the Regiment of Artillery during World War II. Today, the armory is used for storage and as a museum. In addition to its historical significance, the armory is also a beautiful structure that can be visited on any day of the year.

The Mequon Signal Corps Museum is a museum in Mequon, Wisconsin that tells the story of the United States Army's Signal Corps. It was founded in 1933 by Colonel John W. Welch and Dr. George L. Smith and is now operated by the Historical Society of Wisconsin-Mequon.
Mequon is a small town in Wisconsin, United States. It is located in the extreme northeast corner of the state and is bordered by Waukesha County to the south, Racine County to the east, and Ozaukee County to the north. The population was 3,995 at the 2010 census. The name "Mequon" comes from an Algonquin word meaning "a place where deer are found." The first settler in Mequon was John Meeker who arrived in 1836. Meeker named his farm after himself and his father-in-law, Moses Myers. The community began as a part of Racine County but split off from that county when Racine became a part of Milwaukee in 1851. Mequon's beginnings can be traced back to 1854 when Abram J. Klinephal set up shop near present day Main Street and Lake Drive. Klinephal was one of the earliest farmers in this area and also patented land around what is now Mequon Township on April 12, 1854. By 1870, there were over 100 settlers living hereabouts with most settling on large farms or scattered around nature for hunting and fishing opportunities available close at hand including present day Forest Grove Elementary School which opened its doors on October 1st 1969 (the date recognizing Minnesota's 150th anniversary). In 1916 four individuals – Harry Cavanaugh, Charles Averill Pittman Jr., Albert Fenton and George Pugh – organized what would become known as the MEQUON GARDEN SOCIETY which raised money for war efforts while also entertaining visitors at their home between November 16th through December 15th every year until 1942 when they moved into their current location at 901 Maple Avenue across from forest grove elementary school (this building still stands today). In 1951 two more men - Roy Eversberger and Forrest Hundley - joined forces with Harry Cavanaugh to start MEQUON INSTITUTE OF Technology which offers vocational training programs for residents of rural areas throughout Wisconsin today including many currently working professionals such as engineers/scientists/medicines etc.. With donations from various individuals over time MEQUON SCHOOL DISTRICT has been able to build numerous new classrooms,nasal therapy units for students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) & other special needs since 1971! This village still remains one of my favorite places to live because it has always been so welcoming both during good times & bad!

Mequon, Wisconsin is a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The population was 2,873 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing–East Lansing, MI Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Mequon came from New England in the 17th century. They were Protestant missionaries and traders who arrived to help spread Christianity to native nations such as the Ojibwe and Potawatomi. In 1836, three brothers — John A. Payne, George Prentice and Simon Cameron — founded a town on land they had bought from the Kalkaska tribe. The name originated with one of their predecessors, Mequonack (pronounced "meka-nack"), meaning "place where many fish live." The town was incorporated in 1881. One of Mequon's original businesses was an agricultural market that operated from 1868 until 1902. A sawmill also began operation here in 1881; it continued operations until 1984. The mill produced lumber for buildings and other products until it closed down in 1984 due to competition from larger mills elsewhere in Michigan and Ohio. Today, remnants of the mill can be seen along West Main Street near its former site. Mequon has been home to several famous people including Alice Paul (1893-1965), author Maya Angelou (1912-2017), actor Frank Zappa (1937-1993) and entrepreneur Richard DeVos Jr.(1921-1997). In 1948 Mequon became home to America's first enclosed shopping mall when Sears opened its anchored location there called Sears Tower Shopping Center I & II followed by JCPenney anchor store later that year which hosted multiple popular music concerts throughout its existence like Led Zeppelin III arena show on December 9th 1969 during opening day festivities with Jimmy Page joining them on stage for encore set only minutes after landing back at his hotel after his long flight from London
