The Menomonie National Guard was established on November 15, 1892. The unit was organized as a militia company and first served in the Wisconsin state militias. The Menomonie National Guard operated out of Camp Ripon until 1903 when it moved to Camp Randall. In 1916, the Menomonie National Guard became part of the newly created United States Army and served as an artillery regiment. On July 1, 1946, the Menomonie National Guard discontinued its military service and became an employee organization with Federal Reserve Bank privileges. On October 3, 1954, the Menomonie National Guard disbanded and all its assets were transferred to the Wisconsin State Militia Association.

Menomonie, Wisconsin is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and seat of Menomonie County. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee– flattering area. The name Menomonie comes from Monongahela River which flows through it and its namesake river, the Menomonee River. The town was founded in 1836 by immigrants from Sweden who named it after their home countrymen, Menomonee Indians. In 1848, when Menomonie became a county seat, the first courthouse was built on State Street. The present day courthouse and jail were constructed in 1870-1872 by contractors John Wirth and Ebenezer Richardson and are located on Main Street east of Center Drive. In 1892, Menomonie erected a public building to serve as a schoolhouse for students attending schools within its limits. That same year also saw the installation of streetlights in what is now downtown Menomonie. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , all land. As of 2010 census estimates: There were 1,871 people residing in town overall (1,521 households out of which 50% had children under age 18 living with them), including 711 households that belonged to no family members; 702 households were made up of individuals and 144 households were couples living together; 159 families (or about 61%) lived alone; 5 families (or about 8%) had someone living alone who was 65 years or older; 3 families (or about 6%) had someone age 16 or younger living with them; 2 families (or about 4%) were nonresidential residents who commuted into town for work or education reasons; 2 unmarried opposite-sex partnerships existed; 167 married couples resided outside village boundaries while 24 single men resided within village boundaries forming an unofficial “married class” that self-identified as such because they could not find regular partners within their own community.; There are also 11 institutionalized citizens pending release from institutions.: As housing prices have increased around these parts over recent years there has been an increase demand for rental properties available especially near large shopping malls so be prepared to pay more than you would locally if looking for affordable housing

In 1898, Menomonie became an incorporated city, but it declined in importance after World War II until it regained some prominence following passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 1990. Today, Menomonie is a center for agriculture and industry, with a variety of businesses including manufacturing companies such as Ford Motor Company and Waukesha Beer Company; heavy engineering firms like Boeing Co.; information technology companies such as Symantec Corporation; healthcare concerns like Abbott Laboratories; and real estate developers like Forest City Ratner Properties Incorporated. The menomonee valley has become one of North America's most agriculturally rich regions, with large crops of corn, soybeans, wheat (the mainstay of local cuisine), apples, potatoes, onions etc., along with numerous smaller farms producing fruits (mangoes for example) or vegetables (turnips).
