Gun gift history in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin goes back to 1853 when a neighborhood gunsmith, John White, opened his shop on the southeast corner of State and Washington Streets. From here he sold pistols, shotguns and rifles to citizens of the town. In 1878, Mr. White joined with George Halsey to form The Gun Shop Company which still operates today. The first guns bought by Menomonee Falls residents were handguns from various European manufacturers. These handguns would be used for target shooting and other lawful purposes until the early 1900’s when machineguns became common in America. In 1903, Guns N’ Roses was founded in Menomonee Falls by five local men who had purchased a shotgun from White at his shop. This establishment served as the nucleus for what would become one of the most popular firearms retailers in Wisconsin during that time period- selling over 1 million Firearms products! Today, Guns N' Roses is still an important part of the community with its many locations throughout Menomonee Falls including their current store on Main Street West!

The name "Menomonee" comes from the Ojibwe language meaning "peaceful place." It was first given to this area by French fur traders in the 17th century. The town of Menomonee Falls was platted on May 6, 1856, by General John C. Fremont and Colonel Augustus Deane as part of a wagon road between Green Bay and Milwaukee. The town's first post office opened in 1857. It became the capital of Menomonee County on January 1, 1861 when it replaced Milwaukee as the county seat. On July 16, 1865, during World War I, Menomonee Falls was burned by German forces during an attack on American forces near Therese Springs outside of town. In 1959 Menomonee Falls lost its independence from Milwaukee when that city became one of nineteen municipalities within Wisconsin’s newly created Racine–Milwaukee Metropolitan Area (MWMA). At that time Menomonee Falls also became a part of Racine’s school district which later merged with Milwaukee’s school district to form Fox Valley School District #1 effective March 1, 2013. Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin is a town located in the geographic region of Wisconsin in the United States. The population was 10,846 at the 2010 census, up from 9,651 at the 2000 census. It is part of Green Bay County. The community takes its name from Menomonee Creek which flows through it. The first settler in Menomonee Falls was John Leland who came overland from Illinois in 1838. He and his wife Hannah founded a log cabin on the banks of Menomonee Creek in 1840. A post office called Menomonee Falls was established in 1848, and remained open until 1959. In 1851, John Nesbitt arrived and set up a store here. His son-in-law Jeptha Nesbitt Jr., bought out his father’s interest and continued to operate the store until his death in 1886. The men’s store building still stands across from First National Bank on State Street today. During World War I, many men volunteered their services to serve on various fronts including France (1914-1918), Italy (1915-1918), and Serbia (1917). Many of these volunteers received their training here at Camp Randall which was then known as “the training ground for America” because so many young American men had gone there to learn how to be soldiers before they were drafted into service during World War II. After World War II ended, most of these military veterans returned home but a few chose to stay in Menomonee Falls where they started numerous businesses such as hardware stores and restaurants. In 1984, Menomonee Falls became known as “the birthplace of Apple Incorporated” when Steve Jobs moved to the town from Cupertino California after starting Apple Inc.. Today, with more than 12 years of growth under its belt since becoming an incorporated municipality it has become one of Green Bay County’s leading economic interests with over $5 billion invested locally by 2017 according to Forbes Magazine rankings In 2006 for its 100th anniversary Mayor Bob Vander Zalm unveiled an interpretive trail that will travel along both sides of Manheim Creek Trail from downtownMenomonee Falls all the way downriver where it joins with Wisconesshiek River near Racine Park
The Menomonee Falls Bridge was built in 1892 and is a span of the Wisconsin River. It is one of the most iconic bridges in Wisconsin, as it is a key crossing point for motorists and pedestrians.
