Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 2,878 at the 2010 census. Menomonee Falls is located in the Menomonee County seat of Racine and part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. It lies east of Milwaukee on the Menomonee River between its confluence with the Chicago River and Racine's downtown core. The first European to visit Menomonee Falls was Captain George Vancouver on October 12, 1792 when he and his party explored rapids along the lower Minnesota River for commercial purposes. He named both these rivers after Chief Menomonesi (or Mahumanesi), an Indian chief who had given him information about this region before leaving Canada for England in 1789. In 1834, John Jacob Astor founded The Great Western Railroad through Wisconsin which linked Chicago with Milwaukee via Racine and then to Detroit by way of Green Bay and Prairie du Chien - making it possible for Midwest farmers to reach new markets outside their homes. This railroad also served as a conduit for immigrants arriving in search of work in Northwestern America during the 1840s and 1850s; many Germans, Irishmen, Italians, Poles and Hungarian men came to work on it. During World War II, assembly plants operated by United Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation (UAMC) were located at White Sulphur Springs (WSS) near Menomonee Falls; these plants produced B-29 Superfortresses during World War II from April 1944 until September 1945. WSS was known as "the manufacturing center for American Bomber Technology." When Interstate 94 was built through Wisconsin in 1965 it increased traffic through Menomonee Falls; however, since then no major development has taken place there aside from a few minor improvements such as widening sidewalks around town square/civic center area which were completed in 2007/2008/. Local businesses have seen strong online growth over recent years due to access to high speed internet service available throughout much of rural WI.; services like UberX are now available here too!
