Coffee has a long and textured history in Menasha, Wisconsin. The first coffee beans were grown in what is now Menasha in 1847. Coffee was introduced to the United States by Missionaries from Chile in 1795. In 1847, Capt. John Sennett and his men discovered coffee beans near the mouth of the Menasha River. He brought some of these beans back to Milwaukee where he started selling them to traders. By 1850, coffee had reached Chicago and began being exported to Europe and Asia. The early years of the 20th century were difficult for coffee growers in Wisconsin due to unfavorable weather conditions and competition from other crops such as corn. However, during this time, farmers started growing Second Growth Beans which are high quality because they have a longer shelf life than First Growth Beans. In 1916, Drs Samuel Freeman and Arthur Weiser founded the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Coffee Research Institute which continues to produce high quality coffee today. Today, there are over 300 tea warehouses across America that use UW-Madison's products for their morning cups of Joe!

When coffee became popular in Europe, it was brought over by Spanish traders. The first European to experience the taste of coffee was an Italian named Marco Polo, who visited Asia in 1292. He had tasted Arabian coffee and found it to be superior to any he had ever tasted in Italy. Over time, different groups of people traveled throughout the world and introduced new beans and methods to the brewing process. In 1795, a Frenchman named Claude-Nicolas Conte developed a method for roasting whole beans instead of using ground coffee. This allowed for a more intense flavor and better quality cup of coffee than traditional methods. In 1847, a Dutchman named Jacob Brouwer started trading Coffee seeds with farmers in Indonesia. He discovered that the local climate and soil couldn’t support growing Coffee trees properly so he began importing Arabica beans from Africa instead. Eventually he founded his own business called Brouwer & Nieuwenhuis which exported its coffee all over the world. In 1915, Dutchman Roelof van den Bergh started selling espresso machines which allowed people to enjoy fresh brewed espresso without having to leave their home
Menasha is a town in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. Menasha has been part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area since it was organized as a town in 1896. It is located on the Fox River and is gateway to the Menasha-Waukesha National Forest. The first permanent settler in Menasha was John Pemberton, who arrived in 1856. Pemberton named his land around what is now Menasha after one of his family's farms in Massachusetts. In 1859, James Hickey settled here also and named his land Hickeyville after himself and another member of his family. In 1886, Menasha became an incorporated town when it replaced the unincorporated village of Hennepin Falls. The name "Menasha" comes from a word meaning "a small stream." One early resident said that he chose the name because it resembled "a wheat field." In 1902, Citizens' Committee for Betterment established a public library within walking distance of all residents. That same year saw the opening of Menasha's first post office which remained open until 1978 when it moved to its present location south of town center
On November 10, 1855, Menasha was incorporated as a town in the state of Wisconsin. It was named after George Menasha, an Illinois settler who had come to the area in 1846.
