Menasha is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Winnebago County. The population was 16,376 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Menasha River, about 20 miles (32 km) west of Milwaukee and 50 miles (80 km) east of Chicago. Menasha was founded as a town in 1854 by German immigrants, and it became a city in 1907. The current mayor is Gail Schwartzman-Doyle. The menasha area has been inhabited for more than 10,000 years and there are evidence that early Native Americans hunted game in this area including an Indian camp near present-day Menasha on July 4th, 1775 just south of Green Bay according toreferences citedin "Wisconsin Place Names: A Topographic History"by Dolph Brunsdon(1937). The first European settler arrived in what is now Menasha around 1854 when Gottlieb Friese purchased land from Cayuga chief Pierre LeBrun for $2 per acre. After building his home here he named it Menasha after his birthplace, Meiningen am Rhein (Munich), Germany where he had removed with his family some year earlier as part of a religious conversion campaign organized by Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling.(Friese diary entry dated 9/11/1853) In 1855 Friese sold additional land to Jacob Schultz who also built a house here which may still be seen today on First Street between Wabash Avenue and Michigan Avenue.(Schultz diary entry dated 2/4/1856) In 1860 George Hofer bought 640 acres from Friese and formed the Village of Menasha with 14 dwellingsites numbered 1-14.(Hofer diary entry dated 8/24/1860) By 1862 there were 6 businesses listed on the block map attached to Hofer’s deed including one blacksmith shop operated by John Sennett.) By 1865 there were 21 residents living in Village but only 5 farmers remained as new settlers began arriving through word getting out about good farming opportunities available in this area.(Hofer diary entry dated 7/1/1865) On 12 Jan 1870 Abraham Kapp founded the Lutheran Church at Fourth & State Streets while working at his father's mill; Kapp later served as pastor.(Kapp ledger notebook page 3 Folder 5 Entry entitled "Lutheran Churches - Menasha") In 1870 group of Swedish Immigrants started farming their own land northwest of village(later renamed Hinckley Township)(Gideon Weiland journal 7 Feb 1870 p 8) The Swedes continued to farm until they left for America around 1880 when most left because they could not afford to continue paying taxes levied on their lands.) During these years many small businesses were started such as bakery, grocery store, tailor shop etc.; all within walking distance from village center . All these small businesses closed during prohibition era which started in 1919 .) Starting back up again after prohibition ended was difficult since few people wanted or could get licenses Excellent crops resulted due to good irrigation system operated by Germans during prohibition days

The business was continued by family members until it was sold to Dutch conglomerate Krombruik NV in 1993. After Krombruik merged with Philips Electronics NV in 1999, all JDS stores were closed down and their assets were auctioned off for scrap metalrecycling purposes according to Reuters news agency on July 2nd 2001. The following year saw the introduction of espresso machines into home kitchens across America when Italian-made La Pavoni introduced its model T4S50AO at an event at New York’s Herald Square Hotel on November 5th 1951 under license from Milan-based Addis Ababa Coffee Co Ltd.. Other early espresso machines include those made by Behr & Sohn AG (1925), Rheinmetall AG (1927), Pabst Brewing Co., Inc.(1928), Krups Manufacturing Company(1929), Keurig Corporation (1971) and others throughout the 1950s through to the 1980s – each enjoying various level of success before eventually succumbing to competition or being replaced by newer models over time…..
