The history of the Menasha, Wisconsin Army National Guard is reflective of the community it serves. The unit has been in existence since 1868 and has fought in a variety of wars, most notably World War I where it was activated as part of the 1st Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. After the war, Menasha's GNB served primarily in state militias until 1972 when the first peacetime brigade was organized and became part of the Wisconsin National Guard. In 2006, Menasha's GNB was again activated to serve as a response to Hurricane Katrina and soon afterwards they deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, the Menasha GNB is one of 10 military units within the Wisconsin Army National Guard system which constitutes over 120,000 soldiers and civilians across 26 states. The unit has seen its share of success during its illustrious history; most recently being honored with an eight-year term as commander-in-chief for men in barracks at Camp Randall on July 8th, 2019.

The Menasha Signal Corps was a unit of the United States Army during World War II. It was activated on September 4, 1941 in Menasha, Wisconsin as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 8th Infantry Division. The unit served in the European Theater of Operations until May 1945. On October 15, 1945 it was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Cavalry Division. Inactivated on November 1, 1945 in Germany.
Menasha, Wisconsin is a small town in the Fox River Valley of Wisconsin. The population was 904 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Menasha-Racine Census Ward. The area now known as Menasha was first inhabited by the Potawatomi people. The first European to visit Menasha was François de la Salle in 1669. In 1836, Menasha became a community under the name of Racine. The community burned down in 1837 and again in 1840 due to an outbreak of cholera that had struck Racine two years earlier. In 1851, Menasha became a city with its own governance and boundaries within Wisconsin's state government system. By 1870, it had become a village with just over 100 residents. In 1907, Menasha annexed what is now Racine County and formed its present county government with a mayor and five council members. It remains an independent county government today. A major employer in Menasha are local aluminum companies which have made it one of the most important cities for aluminum production in the United States since World War II; however, other employers include First National Bank (since 1978), Verizon Wireless (since 2007), Kenosha County Correctional Facility (opened in 2000), and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company (opened in 2001). Additionally, there are several restaurants and bars located throughout town including Blue Moon Ale Works Brewery & Taproom and Cactus Jack's Pizza Place & Grill; both serve American pub food delivery from their respective locations during peak hours only
