Marinette, Wisconsin is the home of the United States Military Academy and has been a focus for military deployments since World War II. The city was also the location of two battles during that conflict: Battle of Midway and Battle of Saipan. The Marinette Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) was founded in 1886. The first firefighters were employed by the City of Marinette, and then by the County of Marinette. In 1916, the MVFD became a state-funded fire department. The department is now located on First Street in downtown Marinette.
Marinette is a small town in Wisconsin that is known for its apple orchards and cheese. It has a population of around 1,000 residents and is located about 25 miles east of Milwaukee. The name Marinette comes from the French word marin, meaning "meadow." The Orchard District was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1984. The history of Marinette begins with the arrival of the first European settlers in what is now Marinette County in 1847. They were farmers who built their homes near the confluence of the Menomonee and Fox rivers. In 1853, Captain George Fenton founded Fenton's Mill on the Milwaukee River. This mill manufactured flour for local markets and exported it to Europe. The mill was destroyed by fire in 1857, but replaced by another mill at this location two years later. A post office called Marinette was established in 1856, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1916, representatives from seventeen towns met at an agricultural exposition in Chicago to adopt a resolution condemning World War I. Afterward, they traveled to Marinette to create an economic development committee which drafted a plan designed to stimulate production within the town limits while avoiding warfare-related expenditures abroad. The committee’s report was published as “Plan A: A Program For Agricultural Adjustment In Our Town Of Marinette” which enjoyed wide public attention due to its innovative approach at the time. In 1934, when Edith Sayers became president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), she made plans for PPFA’s expansion into Wisconsin following her inauguration speechwriters had prepared for her on July 4th that year pledging national support for “the program that has given birth not only to our movement but also to many thousands of women across this country since its inception” PPFA would grow into one of the leading reproductive rights organizations in history with over 400 chapters across 44 states active during their peak years between 1965-1975 inclusive). With Mrs Sayers leadership PPFA undertook groundbreaking work such as providing health care services including contraception education programs through clinics open 24/7 throughout rural areas; working hard towards legislation helping low income women get access contraception & other family planning services; creating safehouses offer refuge from domestic violence; standing up against racism both internal & external thru organizing rallies & boycotts

In Marinette, Wisconsin, there have been many incidents and moments in its history. One of the more famous events happened when a group of Ku Klux Klan members from nearby Racine came to town to attack black people. The townspeople quickly mobilized and fought back against the Klan, resulting in three arrests and one injury. A few years later, a fire destroyed most of the downtown business district, leaving the city with little money to rebuild. In response to this plight, Mayor John Prentice established the Park District to help manage and redevelop downtown areas. Another noteworthy event occurred when Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt made his historic trip to Milwaukee on April 12th, 1942. Upon his arrival in town, he was welcomed by Mayor John Prentice and other civic leaders who presented him with a plaque recognizing Wisconsin's role in World War II. The governor also visited Milwaukee's Navy Yard where he discussed plans for new aircraft carriers being built at that time.
The Marinette area was first settled by the Dutch in 1636. The area was named after Captain John Marin, a captain in the Dutch navy who fought against the English in the mid-1600s. When the British and French began their War of 1812, Captain Marin joined forces with President James K. Polk to help allied forces victory over France. In 1838, he donated land to Wisconsin as part of its statehood process. The town of Marinette was incorporated on July 1, 1846.
