It is home to several churches including Stroudsburg Methodist Church (founded 1865), Holy Name Catholic Church (1898), Our Lady Help Of Christians Parish (1921), St Joseph’s Catholic Church (1924) ,Anglican/Catholic Apostolic Vicarage(1928) . There are also a number of private homes used for vacation rentals as well as two shopping malls - One near downtown with anchor stores Macy’s and Sears while another at Harbor Park off I-94 just outside town limits features large anchors like JCPenney.,

In 1924, local officials proposed changing the name to Edgware because of its location on Edgware Road just outside ofMilwaukee. However, this proposal did not receive approval from the board of county commissioners so it continued to be called Marinette until 1957 when it changed its name back to its original spelling
