As Marinette takes a seat in her classroom, she can feel the stares of her classmates on her. She's never been good at hiding her feelings and today is no different, but instead of feeling embarrassed or ashamed, she just feels out of place. It seems like everyone else in this small town knows who she is and what she's going through, but they're all too busy avoiding eye contact or giving off the slightest sign that they know how she feels. Finally taking a deep breath and deciding it's time to face the music, Marinette clears her throat and begins to speak. "I'm not sure if you've heard about...the school shooting yesterday," she says quietly, trying not to shake any sense of unease that has settled in over the past few days. "There was an attack on a school in my town and one person has died." Her voice breaks as memories flood back into her mind; images of bloodying floors and terrified students streaming out of the building towards safety. She tries to keep herself together as she continues speaking, "The community is really tight-knit these days and I think we need more than just talkathon events to try and come up with ideas on how to make our town better." Marinette isn't alone in felt when it comes to feeling like outsiders in their small town these days. Everyone seems so preoccupied with their own lives that they're unable or unwilling to care about what's happening around them. The only thing that seems able to bring people together lately is some form of sport or competition - something that doesn't seem interested in putting anyone back at ease even though it could do so much for their townsfolk. There must be something wrong with us...or maybe it's just Marinette herself who's struggling under the weight of everything going on these days?
The history of the United States Air Force deployment gift is vast and has spanned many years. The program began in 1945 when theAAF was created as a result of World War II. At its inception, theAAF included all American military services within its structure. This meant that airmen from all branches of service could be assigned to serve together in support of the war effort. The AAF also had an integrated logistical system in place which allowed for rapid shipment of goods and materiel to battlefields around the world. One such early deployment gift was a radio set known as the RB-29 Superfortress. These sets were used by aircrews during Operation Overlord, the strategic bombing campaign against Nazi Germany. After the conclusion of hostilities, many RB-29 Superfortresses were sold off to other nations and put into use by their respective militaries. Some Air Forces also acquired surplus DB-7 Skymasters which they used for training new flyers and pilots. In 1951, General Curtis LeMay authorized procurement of what would become known as “the first operational bomber” – an F-51 Mustang fighter aircraft nicknamed “The Eagle” by USAF personnel stationed at Tyndall AFB, Newfoundland. The F-51 was designed by North American Aviation and first flew on October 1, 1947. It became one of America’s most popular fighter aircraft and saw action in both World Wars while being produced until 1954
On 4 October 1944, the U.S. Eighth Air Force deployed a gift to the Royal Thai Air Force in commemoration of the RAF contribution during World War II. The gift was two Spitfires and four Gladiators; these planes were used by the RAF as trainers for new aircrews before they were sent to fight in Europe.

Jacob Wisniewski was a Polish immigrant who came to America in 1847. He started a small farm in what is now Marinette and soon became a successful farmer. In 1855, he added another farm to his collection and named it after his wife, Anna Maria. Anna Maria Wisniewski was an amazing woman and she played an important role in the early history of Marinette. She helped her husband with their farming business and she also served as the town's first female schoolteacher. Anna Maria Wisniewski also helped start the city hall and other local landmarks in Marinette.
In 1854, a group of settlers led by Captain John Alden arrived in Marinette County. The new arrivals were farmers and missionaries who had come to spread the gospel across the Midwest. They built churches and schools, founded lumberyards and mills, and started a new way of life. The town of Marinette was born out of this period of growth. The first school was built in 1857, and within a few years, the town had a population of around 100 people. In 1865, the first post office was established in Marinette, and soon after, residents began to build homes. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Marinette experienced some growth as a result of its role as an important transportation hub for the region. Streets were named after key figures from local history – such as Captain Alden or Mayor James Denny – which made it easy for residents to find their neighbors.
