A committee was appointed to design the town square on July 12th 1775 when ideas were brought up about having an open air market or fair onState Capitol Square where goods could be sold without being taken home by buyers. This idea never came to fruition but did lead to other efforts such as plans to build a courthouse and library etcetera that continue to this day! On November 14th 1836 what is now downtown Madison was chartered as part of Racine County by then Governor Nicholas Applegarth with approval from President Andrew Johnson! On December 3rd 1836 James Kapp founded Kapp Brothers Brewery & Distillery on South Water Street which continues today as Oneal & Kapp LLP! At this time Madison had just 9 residents! By 1851 there were over 130 residents living in downtownMadison! In 1857 boundaries were redrawn which created new towns/cities including Green Bay (southwest), Milwaukee (northwest), Waukesha (northeast), Superior (northcentral) and Appleton (east)! However due to building permits not being issued for many of these towns roads became dirt until they finally got built over some time later when more modern streets were built! In 1911 Maple Leaf Brewery opened its doors in downtownMadison giving rise to the current name – “The Brewer’s Row” – because so many breweries operated nearby at that time! In 1956 First National Bank Building opened located along State Street between Adams and King Streets becoming home to two banks before eventually going bankrupt; this building still stands today across from CenturyLink Field!! Finally on October 30th 1969 Waukesha County Annexed neighboring Green Bay creating what is currently known as Milwaukee County!!! It should be noted that although Downtown Madison has been continuously growing since 1800 it has NEVER seen gentrification like much smaller suburbs have experienced lately outside of Chicago!! There are several restaurants/bars/nightlife options within walking distance including State Capital Parkade(the old park next door), Marquette Park(just east of I-94 exit 111A), University Avenue NW(just north side of State St.), Third Ward Liquor store(just south side of State St.), The Brick Shop(across from Hilbert Laboratory)and even Scout Hall[owned by local high school team] right downstate if you want something specific !!!!!

By 1892, Dutch caffeine manufacturer De Witt & Company had begun producing machinery for roasting and packaging whole beans into packages called " torpedoes." During World War II, many factories were closed down due to rationing; however, coffee continued to be produced commercially until about 1950s when it became scarce worldwide due to deforestation in South America where most of the original bean crops had been grown
