In 1851, Dane County was created and it became an important location for coffee production. At this time,WABC (a radio station) began broadcasting from Dane County and started playing music from around the world including European jazz bands. This stimulated interest in Swiss-made beans from American roasters who were starting to sell their products nationally. Beginning in the late 1920s through to the 1970s, Milwaukee's intense population growth caused many people to move into town; this increased competition for jobs among businesses which often forced smaller businesses out of business or closed their doors altogether. However, there are a few notable exceptions to this trend – one being Milwaukee's oldest continuously operating business – The German Bakery & Cafe which remains open today and offers delicious German-style café food items such as Hamburger Helperttes (buns filled with pickled cabbage, onion Rings, tomato sauce and mayonnaise). The popularity ofartisan coffee has continued unabated throughout these times although small-scale roasters have become more prevalent due to technological advances such as online ordering and social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook which allow customers access to fresh roasted bags immediately upon purchase without having to wait in line at a store
