On December 5, 1922, Big Chute Creek overflowed its banks and formed a large waterfall which destroyed many homes in Little Chute; however, most of the residents were able to rebuild quickly. In 1966, two businesses merged into one company: Meineke Incorporated (now Wal-Mart). One of the first things that Wal-Mart did was start buying goods from local farmers markets on weekdays instead of having an expansive physical store chain like other companies at that time. This made Little Chute an even more important grocery town for Walmart because it gave their customers direct access to local produce and goods whenever they wanted them without having to go to another store or wait for days or weeks for their items to come back from production. Additionally, this allowed Walmart to build up a large inventory before selling it off through their biannual sales cycle which helped increase profits while reducing wastefulness as products were constantly being rotated throughout their stores across different regions around the world due to obsolescence rates
