Little Chute, Wisconsin is a small town in the Driftless region of the Midwest United States. The population was 597 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rock County, Illinois, Micropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Little Chute was first settled by German-speaking farmers in 1837. By 1850, it had become a general store and post office, and by 1865 it had been named for George Little, an American Revolutionary War soldier and surveyor who had helped to lay out the townsite on a bend in the river. In 1871, local residents decided to rename their community after William Ewing Chase (1822-1911), an early settler and one of the most influential men in town. Chase was born in nearby Mount Pleasant and spent his childhood near Little Chute before moving to what is now Rock County in 1846. He started out as a farmer but quickly became one of its most successful businesses owners and served as mayor from 1893 to 1895. After serving as governor of Iowa from 1903 to 1905, he moved back to Rock County and died there in 1911. Chase's village would continue to be called "Chateau" until eventually being renamed again - this time for Frederick Ladd (1881-1964), another local business owner who also served as mayor from 1893 to 1895 and then as Ulysses S Grant's Vice President during World War I. In 1948, Little Chute reverted back to its original name when it joined the newly created Rock County seat of Plymouth Township.

Little Chute is a town in Grant County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Little Chute is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Racine metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Little Chute was James Wigger and his family in 1827. They built a log cabin on the banks of the river and named it Wigger's Grove after their patriarchs. A post office called Chute was established in 1854, and remained in operation until 1966. In 1870, John Dickey built a sawmill on the river near present-day Park Falls. By 1875, Little Chute had a school, store, and two blacksmiths. In 1907, an elevator company started up by Jens Rasmussen became one of the most successful businesses in town with its two elevators that transported goods to and from downtown Milwaukee on weekdays for $1 each trip! The mill closed in 1951 but left behind a legacy of entrepreneurship including Park Falls Landing which continues to be a busy tourist spot today
The Little Chute Post Office was established in 1868, and served the community of Little Chute until it closed in 1957.
