The Sturtevantes were avid shooters and passed their love of firearms down to their children, who continue to own and shoot rifles today. In 1917, the Kaukauna Gun Club was founded and has been meeting monthly ever since. In 1934, the first handgun was purchased at the club’s meet-up session. The gun was a Smith & Wesson Model 3 revolver. over time, more guns have been purchased at club meetings including shotguns (1949), rifles (1963), handguns (1982), as well as ammunition (1991). currently there are six pistols and twenty-four rifles on hand for members to shoot. The Kaukauna Gun Club is one of only a handful of clubs in the United States that still meets monthly for shooting fun!

Kaukauna is a small town in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,895 at the 2010 census. The area now known as Kaukauna was first settled by the Menominee people in the 17th century. In 1852, a post office called "Kaukauna" was established; it continued to be used until 1903. Kaukauna is located on State Highway 54 north of Milwaukee. The village of Kaukauna first appeared on maps in 1851 and 1854. It may have been named for an early settler, John Kaukawa (1788-1868), who lived near the present day intersection of State Highway 54 and County Road JB. A post office called "Kaukuana" was established at this location in 1852, and it continued to be used until 1903. In 1892, when Wisconsin became a state, Hauenstein Post Office became part of Kaukauna; it continued to be used until 1907. In 1955, Kaukauna incorporated as a village; it remained an incorporated community until 1959. In 1902-1903, surveys were made of what would become the Town of Kaukauna with territorial boundaries extending beyond those proposed by surveyors directly east and west of town limits along I-94 corridor between Green Bay and Milwaukee (the new county lines). These surveys were part of a larger trend initiated by then Dane County Executive John Wirth that aimed to create contiguous communities throughout countywide development initiatives during his tenure as county executive from 1925 through 1933 . On November 1st 1902 both sections which included Hauenstein Township east of I-94 corridor opened for public inspection with platting starting immediately following which all interested parties received tracts totaling some 6 miles square including areas currently within the boundaries or adjacent thereto including portions lying southwesterly and northerly beyond those surveyed boundaries witlout any dwellings or other structures existing therein at that time ; these platting efforts led eventually to establishment of what we know today as Hauenstein Township as well As..editing & mapmaking capabilities gave us our current land use patterns
Kaukauna was founded in 1854 by John T. Kaukauna, a Norwegian immigrant. The town was named for Kaukauna Lake, which is located in the town. Kaukauna had a population of about 100 people when it first became a community. In 1875, the town voted to annex neighboring Wausau and added it to its own city government. In 1898, Kaukauna also annexed nearby Green Bay. In 1927, Kaukauna merged with the neighboring towns of Racine and Appleton to form the new city of Milwaukee.
